Polish

Having never owned a bike with so much chrome before ,I was wondering what polish other U.K. owners use to keep it pristine looking .

Hi. I use Muc-Offs polish, a bit pricey but its for the bird, and "wheel Wax " on the wheels,,Dazco on here was talking about a polish in the U.S called "Liquid Performance" but its not avaliable in the U.K, so I went for Muc-Offs stuff ..

Regards

I use Semi-Chrome polish on all my chrome and polished aluminum. I believe it is made in Germany and I buy it at up-scale kitchen utensil stores. It is pricey but worth every penny.

Problem is, the UK has certain environmental laws that prohibit a lot of chemicals that are legal in the states. I use something called liquid performance spray cleaner and polish which is the only chrome product i have ever tried that actually makes the chrome look deeper and better. Yet it also works fantastic on the entire bike and it's all i use now. But when i tried to tell someone at the other place about it, he couldn't find it and i called the manufacturer to find that laws in the UK won't allow them to export thier product over there.

But that said, while theres nothing else i've ever used as good one chrome, anything will work as good as the next on chrome. even water 1 I mean, all you have to do is remove any dirt, and not much sticks hard to chrome so it's easy to clean. As long as whatever you use doesn't leave streaks. A streak free detailer spray is quick and easy. Eagle one "wet wipe and shine" detailer is quite streak free. But i wish you could get liquid performance over there. I lent mine to my neighbor with very high end chrome wheels on his very high end beemer and he was so impressed he ordered 3 cans that day.

Quick note on the liquid performance (great product there Daz, thanks for the heads up) Don't keep the product in the garage (or any unheated area) during the winter. Daz may not know this because of his local but but because the product is very thick (it's a wax sort of product that actually has to be sort of rubbed in then buffed) it will clog if left in the cold. I thought my cans were dead as both clogged but not in the spray head as you might expect. I brought them into the house and let them warm up for a day and now both are back working again.

If you can find this stuff give it a try. I actually think it does better on the paint than it does the chrome. It's good stuff.

I'm surprised at that. Both myself and the neighbor were amazed at what it did for chrome, and i've always felt no product was better than the next for chrome because no matter what i used, be it a polish, a way, detailer, you name it, chrome always looked the same to me as long as there are no contaminants one it. But to us this stuff gave it a glow i never noticed on chrome B4. In any case, I use it exclusively now except for a occasional waxing of the painted parts and a dedicated cleaner like simple green when anything becomes so dirty it's hard to remove. but those things aside i go over the entire bike with LP and do nothing else. On the paint its good, but a really good wax improves the shine above what LP does. (tho i DO have what i think is a exceptional wax)

Oh wasn't saying its bad on chrome. It does a great job. It just makes the black paint on my bird glow. I spray it on, the spread it out well with a towel (that eventually gets pretty wet) then buff off with dry micro fiber towels and the paint just lights up. I also tend to use it on the paint a lot more than the chrome. I use LP most often as a quick preride cleanup; quick polish of the paint, headlight and forks and I'm off.

I was using some squirt bottle stuff before, Lucas quick mist (or something like that) and while it cleaned alright it didn't have the wax like glow that th LP delivers. I'm glad I picked up two cans, even though it last longer than I would of thought.
