Finally!

Well I finally got to ride a T-Bird today! All I can say is WOW! You guys were right about this bike. I only got to ride it for 10 miles but it was great. I went through some S-turns and looked at the speedo and I was doing 60. I could have gone faster no problem. The riding position is great for me and very comfortable. The trans shifted like butter and this was the first 10 miles on the bike. The brakes were great. The ride was the best part. The rear springs were set on #1 which I believe is the softest and it rode like a Cadillac. I hit bumps that I hardly noticed that would have jarred my fillings out on a Harley. I must say I'm impressed. Tomorrow I am talking price with the dealer. I really like the Silver/black. I am probably getting the ABS also. I'm getting older and think they may save my a** some time. I'm in the Philadelphia,Pa area and am dealing with Manayunk Triumph. He's a Triumph only dealer and I like that. Anyone on here have any experience with them?

Glad to hear it went well Bandit. It really is a great bike. No experience with that dealer but best of luck in finding a deal that you can settle on.

Don't let them try and charge you for freight, prep or any of the other B/S charges most of these guys will try and fleece you for. All of those erroneous fees are built in to the MSRP of the bike and they should not pass them on to you. I actually bought my bike in Idaho and had it shipped to Texas because none of the dealers here would budge on them. It was actually less expensive for me to buy the bike there and have it shipped then it was for me to pay the extra $800 or so they were asking. Don't fall for it!

Get them to toss in $500 of accessories

Bike sales or horrific these days, but the t-bird is hot, and they don't need to get rid of them. I got my dealer to drop $500 and then give me $500 credit toward accessories (which are super expensive).
But after 1000 miles, I don't even remember what I actually paid---but every day I am grateful I own this beauty. I also have a BMW r1200r, and as great as that is, I prefer the T.

The dealer just offered to sell me the bike for the MSRP. No freight or dealer prep. Anybody do better than this? By the way the bike has to come from the wearhouse in Atlanta. It is in stock there.

I'd definitely go for it. One really nice accessory is the leather tank bag, much bigger pouch than most, fits like a glove, very reasonably priced, unlike everything else! I also got a shield and running boards, and will buy bags over the winter, but not from triumph. I can't tell you how pleased I am with the bird!

I figure you guys are gonna flame for this, but Triumph has a separate line charge to the dealer for delivery to the dealer. It is not in the MSRP. If a dealer does not charge you for this it's the dealer's pocket that takes it. Triumph gets their money either way.
Glad you got a price you can live with but please do not equate that price with what a dealer pays or does not pay.
One of my good buds, who is a Triumph certified tech informs me that it takes a good hour and a half to set up and go over a bike like the Bird. he's very complete and fills out the PDI form top to bottom and also checks almost every nut and bolt. I've worked with him, and continue to do so and am just passing this along.
I offer this in the spirit of understanding so let's avoid the "pissing match about the stealership" part, ok? Very few on these boards have any clue on what the financials are in the powersport industry-and this year is REALLY poor. Some of you will loose your dealer.

Not sure where you are getting your information but my source is the dealer in Idaho from where the bike was purchased from. I doubt very seriously he was making this up. I also doubt that there would be anyway they could afford to loose the cost of freight and prep in the sale if it wasn't true as their take of the sale is only about 10%. There is simply nothing to understand, do not pay for freight, prep, inventory tax or document fees, EVER! These are all ******** charges and if they try and get you to pay them, take your business elsewhere.

Bandit, way to go friend! Mine also came from Atlanta and only took a few days to get to the dealer. You'll have it in no time.

That seems fair to me. I paid $500 under MSRP, but I paid for prep.

My dealer also gives me 15% off any non-sale item I buy from them - accessories and off-the-shelf items. Sometimes I buy something from them and they tell me I got the "Thunderbird" discount, i.e., more than 15%.
