Way to small
So I went down to my local dealer this weekend check book in hand for my 1st real look and demo of the T-Bird and WOW this bike is small, I was shocked, I don't no what I was thinking but I did'nt expect the bike to feel smaller then the Speedy or even the same size as the Speedy.
As I sat on the bike my wife hopped on the back, we both just sat there and as I was thinking it she said it (Babe this bike is to small)
My heart just sank Dammit I realy wanted to love this bike but no soap.
what's the average size of you guys out there who are haveing so much fun on this bike?
I'm 6' 210lb (average) my wife is 5' 4 aprox 125 -130 (small)

I'm 6' 215lbs and I love this bike! There are bigger guys than me that have them.
To each his own. Try a Rocket III, oh I see your favorite bike is a Rocket III... Well, I think anything is going to feel small after being use to that monster... I know, there are all kinds of jokes in there.

Wow ! More proof that tastes vary from one end of the spectrum to the other. In fact, me and another guy from another triumph forum were speculating on the size before the bike came out and both of us were hoping it wasn't too big and were fantasizing about a 1600 the size of our speedys. I was overcome with happiness when i finally saw one in the flesh and saw how small it was for a 1600 ! granted, i'm 3" shorter than you but i can ride an R3 with no issues what so ever. That bike by the way IS much bigger, and it feels like you're riding on top of a mac truck, a feeling that was one of several that made me decide against an R3. But that said, i don't feel it's as small as a speedmaster. It's lower, but it's much heavier and wider. i feel like it's the perfect size which to ne is as big as it can go w/o feeling like i'm sitting atop the titanic. that was you get the stability of a larger bike but w/o the lack of control. And the kicker is that it is easier to handle than the speedmaster and handles like a friggin sportbike.
Before you take a pass you should take a ride ! And remember, if the power leaves a bit to be desired for you and the wife, the BB kit will take it up a large notch by all accounts. I have no doubt it will be easily modifiable to almost R3 power with BB, pipes, and air mods and a good tune. It will further close the gap due to the belt being much less lossy that the shaft on the R3.
I gotta tell you, i started riding ion the 60's and i've never ridden any bike i love this much, not even close. once you have one for a few days you'll begin to "get it", and once you do there will be no riding w/o smiling. But if all else fails, try the R3. It's a fun bike with all the power you'll ever need and it IS big if thats what you want. I didn't care for the feel or sound and a few other things. But had the Tbird not been rumored when i tried it i probably would have bought one eventually. The way i see it tho is if the r3 and Tbird were equally as fast, the r3 would go out of production immediately because no one would buy it. It really has just one advantage.

I'm 6'6" 250lbs. I ride solo mostly but have done several good rides with my wife (5'3" 115lbs) and think the bike fits great. I could do with another 2" or reach on the pegs but thats it.
I certainly don't consider the bird small, but it does have a compact wheelbase. You can not have a good handling land yacht. That said I don't feel constricted on the bird at all, nor do I find it uncomfortable to ride 2 up. I don't think it makes a good long haul bagger frame, but I never got her for that.
Best of luck finding what you want.

It's no R3 or Glide and at 700lbs it's almost 200 heavier than your run of the mill Sporty. The Speedy looks considerably smaller to me, especially sitting on it, only rode it once though <shrug>.
Proof is in the puddin'! Shorter but wider. So it's really not the length and all in the girth!
2010 Speedmaster
Length 95.2
Width 32.7
Height 45.6
Weight 550 lbs
2010 T-Bird
Length 92.1
Width 34.6
Height 44.1
Weight 746 lbs

I'm 6'4, 220. The bike rides great for me. Not as nimble as my scooter but that I'm coparing it's nibbleness to a scooter should paint how well this bike handles and melts away underneath you. Of course the t-bird has a 'tad' more power than my scoot. It is triple digit certified . I would also like the pegs just a couple of inches further forward (I have a 38" inseam, without boots on). Please take it for a test ride before passing it over. Also, triumph makes a larger touring seat which might provide more comfort for your passenger.

I'm 6'1 / 180 lbs and I've never considered the bike small. Lots of room for me and my wife. Granted...the stock rear pillion seat is small but it can be replaced so I'm kind of puzzled at your findings.

Yup good points all,
I sure hope nobody's affended clearly that's not my goal hear. As I Said I was in a funk for the rest of the day when we left the dealer. But I will go back since the one on the floor is a demostrator I think once around the block is only fair.
Wile there we also sat on the Raider as well witch insadently was my 1st choice but I thought it would be best to wait til I saw the T-Bird first.
The Raider's fittment is a lot better for me but the wife did'nt think so (stock seat)
At any rait I have plenty of time we live in Conneticut and the season for riding has all but ended but the season for buying has just began.

No, not offended at all. I've seen a lot of people get offended by what we say to them but it's honestly never intended that way. I think to a man everyone here that owns a tbird will agree with me when i say that whenever we see anyone question the Tbird's worth in any way we tend to become sorta desperite to make them see what we do. Because we know how incredible this bike is, but we also know how it takes some saddle time to really get it. I've said many times here that when i first got the bike and rode the 30 miles home i didn't get it. I liked it in some ways, but being so new to me and different than what i was used to it was all too much to take in at the time. Within 24 hours from being unsure about it i went from that to thinking this thing was the most incredible ride i've ever owned or ridden. And at that point i thought about 15% as thrilled with it as i am now 5000 miles later.
So when someone questions it, we know that many or most of those have no idea what the bike really is all about, even if they demo'd one. Some people DO get it right away. But like me many don't, and they leave it at that point an move on never knowing what they're passing up. thats why we are so animated and determined to tell you what we think....because we know that chances are good if you owned one for a few days or a week you'd be slapping your forehead and thinking how did i ever doubt this thing ! Lastly, look at me....i probably am as thrilled with this bike as anyone else and maybe more then many. Yet had i not bought it without a demo ride, chances are the demo may have had me passing on it. Passing on a bike i now consider far and away better than whatever my second favorite bike of all time is.
