Goodness me.

Got up this morning and had a cup of tea. Jumped in the car with my wife and went to the Dealership to Picked up my Bird . Beautiful , absolutely beautiful. Had all the boring talk about the RAT membership , RAC cover , cup of coffee , signed the forms and was given the keys. Had the obligatory walk through of the controls and then got taken to the service area to meet the mechs.

"I DONT CARE LET ME GET ON MY BIKE AND RIDE FOR GODS SAKE"

Finally started her up and went off. 20 miles to drop the docs off , pretty good , the bike is comfortable loads of power and handles nicely. I am impressed . I go to my brothers place who is waiting patiently for me to take him to pick his Bird up from another dealer . He looks at the pillion seat , "Im not going on that ! ".

I laugh and totally understand so we jump in his Scooby and head off to the dealer . We get there have another cup of coffee while the paper work is being done . He has the obligatory walk through as well I have a chat with the boss of the place and he shows me his Bird . We chat while I am thinking .

"GET ME HOME I WANT TO RIDE MY BIKE!".

I drive Bro's car to his place park and immediately get my gear back on. He turns up "Nice bike , not bad"

So we head off for some serious miles and something odd happens. We ride off to Constable country. You know, artist bloke , quite famous . Did a few paintings about the countryside in Suffolk over here in the UK. Anyway we pull up in a car park and get off. "I say , you ok" . He looks at me .

"Ive had a moment" he says . "I was riding down those twistys and all the hairs stood up on my neck, this bike is fooking incredible"

That sums it up really . We put 120 miles on the clock on our birds and Dazco , you aint kidding mate , after 50 odd miles you just marvel at this machine . It is like nothing else . How can this bike handle like it does with such grace and surety? How can it rip the road up like it does and make you feel like your floating along on a breath of air.

This bike IS incredible there is no doubt what so ever .

Bro and myself will take pics tomorrow of both birds together One Black One blue but we just couldnt get it done today we were just too excited and needed to ride . Then it got dark lol.

Im off out again see ya!!!!

congrats to the both of you, and thanks for saying that and reinforcing what i've been so vocal about. When you say this on a forum people take it with a grain of salt because one man's opinion is just that. But when others have the same *moment* like your brother it just proves i'm not exaggerating. One guy at another forum shouted me down exclaiming there are harleys that will handle as good or better, even tho he's never ridden a tbird of course. I had that same moment the day after i got it when i took it up thru maybe 80 miles or so of twisties. very soon after i hit those roads i just became awe struck at this bike. I thought my speedmaster handled great with the progressive springs and 440's on the rear. little did i know or even imagine this far heavier bike could handle like this. i mean, others don't. When is the last time you heard people in droves raving about some cruiser's handling? never have and likely never will. I hear people saying there is no "do it all" bike. I beg to differ. It may not be to them, but to me it is.

Daz we even hit traffic jams at rush hour . Serious business over here . What absolute dreams . Such confidence for a bike . I challenge anyone to show me a better , beautiful , powerful , racy ,classy, safe drop dead stunning piece of Iron.

A Harley will never compete with the handling of this bike . I recon some of the touring machines might have trouble too . Hey Im just so happy . This bike is beyond my expectations . It shouldnt be able to do this its criminal.

Well i'm glad to see you are this excited about your bike. i know the feeling and it's great. i have almost 5000 mile now and still i'm sitting here are work counting the minutes till i can leave and ride home ! You're right...it's a dream bike, at least to those of use that *get it*.

Now, remember this....when you cant ride you can spend time in the garage looking at it, touching it, polishing it, looking more, polishing a bit more, touching it again, more looking, etc etc. I'd sleep with mine if i could get it inside.

Hi DruAde,

Nice ride are they not!

Interesting reading about your Constable country ride - I am from a little village called Great Henny which is just outside of Sudbury originally.

I occasionally get over there and normally stay with my sister at Great Waldingfield - if I come over we should meet up.

Where in Essex are you based?

Stan my bro and I are near Chelmsford . If you come over get in touch be more than meet to meet up . Might be heading out Sudbury way tomorrow actually . I fancy a ride to Halstead . Some good twistys out that way.

If you go thru Waldingfield I will tell my BIL to watch out for a couple of T'birds - just to p*ss him off (he loves mine) Hee Hee Hee!

(Used to use the old Waldingfield WW2 airstrip for burns in the old days - Miles of dead straight pavement (with the odd hole) that you could REALLY gun the bike down!

Ahh memories!

Well the Waldingfield pub on the main drag is not too bad - used to be owned by a couple of tail-gunners.
