Talking Handlebar change?

New t-bird (Bloody Luverly Too) received last week here in balmy Canada (brrr!) and 250 miles later have a question for any of you vertically challenged riders (I'm 5' 6"). Has anyone installed either bar risers or new bars that move the grips back to help releive that dull ache between the shoulders?

Hi there. Well I'm around 5' 7" and intend to install the OEM Twin T Bars. One snag - I wont be getting them till around mid December!

Once they're installed I'll pass on my findings to all.

Leave the pork pies for now - get the sausage rolls while they're hot!

I too am looking for a handlebar closer to my body. Either longer risers or just different bars.
For sure I am not getting the TT-bars as they are even further from body. The wide handlebar would be perfect if they were not... wider.

It's odd, but i'm only 5'8" and i actually had to adjust the bars so they're a bit further away by pushing them up. And i still need more ! I get back issues only if i'm NOT leaning forward a bit. I leaned forward more on my speedmaster and never had an issue. Got the Tbird and began getting pain in the vertebrae just below my neck on long rides. I seem to be getting used to it and it happen les and less. But i'm trying to figure out what size/pullback i need for a set of risers so that a set of drag bars will put my hands about 1" more forward. (also for the looks....love the drag bar look)

Daz, the OEM TT bars will be perfect for you I believe.
A little lower and a little bit further from the body. Just what you are looking for then ? I'm 5'11" but this time I want a bike which gives me a tourer riding position . So I'm getting floor boards to get my leg at 45° and I want higher risers or a different bar to sit straight up.

Actually i looked at pics of stock and T bars both from the side and it's like you said, they are lower. And that i don't want. I prefer then a little higher than the stock ones come. In fact when i pushed mine forward they of course also go up some and thats right where i like them as far as height, but too far back still.

Or all your blood would go else where, depending on what you were thinking about. You would have to be carefull not to crash under these circumstances. Therefore, no beauties on the back of the bike when riding with ape hangers.

peteymcscruff -

whatever you do, ride the bike for awhile first.

I experienced some lower back pain for the first week or so because I wasn't used to the cruiser position. My body has now adjusted and I can ride all day comfortably. Perhaps you will experience something similar.

He** no! I don't want them high like Xchoppers. I just want them where the stock ones are now after i adjusted them which is maybe 1" taller than in the stock position. Stock is ok tho. But what i really need is about 1" forward from where it is now.
