The power slide around the bend makes the hairs stand up dosnt it?

I am honestly considering the roadster. I have been looking for a street bike to complement the bird for a while now. The Guzzi Breva 1200 was attracting my attention but this new rocket in an intriguing option.

I never liked the original Rocket and thought the 'cruiser' iteration was a silly thing, made for the tiny tadgered rider in need of a phalic boost. (reinforced by so many of the rocket's owners). The roadster however makes sense. (if a 2300 bike can ever really make 'sense'). Pulling the pegs back and the rider forward turns it into a real muscle bike. I'm a bit concerned that they have lowered the pegs, so I'll have to wait for a ride to know how this might effect things but on first pass the roadster is a very attractive package.

Me too in a couple years . I was thinking of adding the big bore kit to the Bird but I might just put it towards a Roadster instead.

the did lower the pegs, tho i can't recall hw much. very small amount as i recall. but what i don't get is why people think it's so different. besides the pegs and power it's all cosmetic, and the power can easily be matched by a regular rocket with minimal mods or even just mapping. peg position aside it's really the same bike as far as i can see.

peg position, seating (the seat was moved forward) tank was reshaped and bars were changed. They changed it from cruiser erogs to a standard. That makes a huge difference in how the bike can be handled. Think of the bird, the 'feet forward' positioning on the bird is pretty conservative, think how much different it would be with the lazyboy ergos of a Harley in how the bike would feel. I never liked the sort of 'square peg in a round hole' feel that the rocket-forced-to-be-cruiser had. I think it makes a much better muscle bike and ditches all cruiser pretenses.

As for the power... well, just think how much you could get out of this bike with a few minor mods. Frankly I'm anxious to see what 165lbs of torque feels like when mated to a shaft compared to the 115-120lbs of the tbird mated to a belt. It would be interesting to see what the rear wheel numbers are on both bikes. (though I'm not gonna be pulling a wheelie even if I can on the bird... I'm not THAT crazy and/or good)

I've heard rumor of a sport classic. Something along the lines of the Thunderbird sport reborn. I would love to see that as well. We shall see.

Probably the same as a regular R3 because from what i can tell and from what others are saying, the only differences in the engine are probably the same things you can do to the regular R3 thru mapping. As an example, there was one setting in the mapping which i don't recall, but it was purposely put there to make the first 2 or 3 gears if i recall correctly, less powerful. The bike supposedly picks up a lot of grunt just from removing those restrictions. they did this so that inexperienced riders wouldn't be caught off guard by the power and lose it. I can believe it because when i gunned in while demo'ing one it nearly jerked my hands off the bars. More power and it just may have. Anyways, point is the difference is probably just some changes in mapping, but the internals may be the same as a regular R3. Thats not fact, but it's already been discussed as the likely reason for the difference by some speculating R3 guys.

You can ask in the R3 forum about what that setting is and they'll tell you. i just don't remember what it was, but i read about it back when i was considering a R3 and spent some time researching it.
