Windshields
I have had my TBird for about a month and love it. I installed the mid-height windshield and was wondering if anyone knows how much higher the tall windshield is over the mid-height one. Also, does the taller windshield use the same quick release brackets as the mid-height one?
This bike is so much more powerful and comfortable than my Speedmaster. It is a better overall bike than my '97 Harley Low Rider was ( even with $$$$ put into the Harley on engine and suspension mods)

I have the large windscreen and it comes up to about the midpoint of my nose (I am 6'1").
The windscreens use the same mounting kit (all three windscreens reference the same kit number on the accessories site).
I like the tall windscreen up to about 55-60 mph. At freeway speeds (70 mph+), I get some buffeting.

DrNick,
I demo rode a TBird with the tall screen and as Engage suggested, experienced some buffeting as well. The buffeting I observed occurred at lower than highway speeds, well 45 to 60MPH. I don't know if it matters that I'm just under 6 feet in height. From my perspective the buffeting was more than I'd want, i.e. it was disturbing and dizzying. Without the screen, I thought it was a brilliant machine.

Thanks for the feedback. I'm 5'10" and see easily over the mid-size screen but the airflow seems to be directed to the top of my helmet. Just wondering if the taller screen would direct air over the helmet. I'm used to some buffeting on all my bikes, but my friend's Yamaha FJR1300's screen really provides nice wind/rain protection. Probably no alternative to trying the tall screen at some point. Thanks again for the comebacks to my question

Dr. Nick...save yourself some dough and contact Windvest...they come in various sizes and work well. The Triumph Rocket screen is the one you want.

Dr Nick,
I'm 5'8" and have the summer screen and love it. It will let the air hit you face on like not having a screen on at all, but will keep the wind off you chest so you can ride at 70 or 80 mph with one hand if you wish. I really helps with the fatigue of not having to hold the hand grips so tight with the speed gets up there. I don't mind the wind in the face and think its the perfect combination of protection and freedom all rolled up into one.

I'm going to order the laminar lip for my full-sized screen and will report back, but if I don't like it, I think the summer screen will be next for me as well.

It worrys me that the buffeting hasnt been cured by anyone. There seems to be something inherently wrong going on here. Lowers should have cured most of the buffeting most people are experiencing but if it isnt there must be something else going on.
Anyone with a screen near a smoke chamber lol.

Does anyone have the lower deflectors installed? I have the tall screen coming with the lowers and buffeting is my biggest nightmare. I actually don't mind a little wind in the face so I wonder if the summer screen with the lowers might be a better option if I do indeed get my head bounced around at highway speeds. From my reading, I have a sneaking suspicion that venting this screen might be cure-all.

Here's another idea, but without the screen in front of me, I am not sure this is possible. Anyway to install some type of washer that would bring the screen forward and away from the tank/light? This would allow more airflow underneath the screen which is similar in principle to venting it. Who has some close-ups of the mounting points?
