TOR tune download.

Having now done a test ride on a T'bird with TORS, I have now put an order in for them - got a bit of a discount on the fitting etc so am fairly happy with the price.

A question however - and I know a lot of this is dealer specific/country specific.

In the fitting price is the cost of the download of the TOR tune - which is $175.

In some respects this was a hidden cost when getting the TORS - which pisses me of a tad.

What price do the rest of you pay for a tune download (I suspect most of you get them for a much smaller cost - or free). Obviously my issue is that I am locked in and they have me by the short and curly's!

The other question is that the tune is essentially software - and there could be bugs in it - and a new version may come out - any idea on policies on the new version?

All the best

Stan

The dealers are supposed to load the tune for you when they install TORs with no additional charge. They charge you an install fee for the pipes only. If you install the TORs yourself they should load the tune free when you bring it in. If this is not how they're doing it i would call triumph and ask them if they are supposed to do it that way. I'm quite sure i'm correct on this one, but call them to be sure and if i AM right tell them what the dealer is doing.

Thanks DAZ - after looking a little close the 'deal' may not be a deal after all.

Short pipes are $665 - long are $695.

Labor time is ????

They quoted me $1000 all up (I have the filter already).

Will give Triumph a call today - and will talk to another dealer I know and get an idea of labor costs/time.

Will happily cancel pipes order and get em somewhere else (after I have the bike).

for fitments of these pipes it should be 30-60 minutes labor max, it takes 5 minutes each side to do the pipes, then 15 minutes for the tune.
my dealer over here is £40 per hour, say they charge you an hour you should be looking at $60 to $80 max i would have thought,

$175 is extortionate.

You should ask the dealer about whether they'd charge you to load the tune if you do the install. they shouldn't. If they do call triumph on it. I say this because you may wanna consider doing it yourself....it's extremely easy.

Talking

Sounds like another case of dealer rip off. They're trying to pay their rent off one customer. Is that the msrp for the pipes over there?

Got mine for MSRP less 20%. Installed the pipes in 30 mins and got the tune for $40. If the tune changes, I'll expect the new one for free>
