Greetings one and all,
I started with dirt bikes at the age of 12 and over the last few years have spent a lot of time street riding. I love off-road but it is so nice being able to just head out from the garage and go for a ride without having to load a bike into the back of my truck and drive 100 miles to start riding.
Anyway, I have a few different street bikes now and am toying with the idea of adding a Triumph America Cruiser to the mix. For whatever reason, and I am sure being 46 isn't it, my legs and knees get fatigued on longer rides, even just day trips. Of course I stop and rest but think a cruiser with the forward foot rests might make for a really fun all day bike to ride around on.
I'll post my question in the correct forum but am a little concerned about performance given the 500+ pound weight of this line and "only" getting 61hp and 53 lb/ft of torque. My F800GS is rated at similar torque but has more peak hp but isn't what I would call a high performance bike. It seems to really need 4th gear to pass cars on the open road. OTOH my old DR650 (should never have sold) had way less hp and torque than the Triumph cruiser line and that DR seemed to to okay. Of course it is 150 pounds lighter as well.
So if anyone wants to post any insight as to what I can expect performance wise I would appreciate it. I'll post in the appropriate forum and hope this won't count as a double post but I am sure the mods will take care of that. I don't expect the bike to pull like my Monster 821 but I do hope I can get around traffic easy enough. There is no dealer near me so I can't take a test ride without a long drive.
Thanks and looking forward to adding a Triumph to my stable.
