G'day from a new Triumph owner
My parents fled the UK in 1967 with me as a wee baby, so I have been trained to say g'day.
Last time I was in the UK was back in February - minus 11 and 4 inches of snow in Dersingham! But the Guinness was good.
But I still call myself British, hold an EU passport and as of today (12/12/12) I am now the owner of my first Triumph.
I bought a 2001 TT600, 47,000km and in very good condition.
It has been slightly modified with a Scorpion muffler fitted, a tinted screen fitted, some carbon fibre dress up panels around the gauges, across the triple and on the tank, and some silver steel mesh in the front fairing cut outs (which I will take out).
Slight scratching on the tank near the fuel cap, and the left hand black plastic air intake has a broken clip at the rear (already found where to get one).
I rode the bike for the first time, home from where I bought it this afternoon. Took me an hour in heavy traffic and 35 degree (Celsius) heat. The temp got over 106 and the fans did kick in, but boy it is hot sitting on this bike.
Plus the engine management light came on about 15 minutes from home, it could be the mechanic who did the inspection for registration transfer and replaced the brakes and front tyre may have triggered it - but I plan to get it serviced at the Triumph dealer in Melbourne in a week or so.
I have checked the oil level with the engine cold and the bike level - looks okay to me (over the XX on the stick).
So - any tips for looking after a TT600? I do want to find an owners manual for it, preferably an original one (not a downloaded photocopy) any clues on where to buy one?
Cheers - Cliff.
