Dallas Texas (a.k.a. Thread-Dummy)

Looking around trying to figure out how to make my first post as a new member. I'm trying POST A NEW THREAD this time. I tried to REPLY TO POST earlier and think I accidentally replied to someone in Arizona (sorry bout that). Let me try this again. Picked up my blue 2009 America up in Wichita,KS on Tuesday 11/20. Yup, loaded the 09 V-Strom DL650 up in wifeys new Tundra and left Dallas at 3:30 a.m. This is of course after a couple months of searching the interwebnet from Corpus Christi to Memphis. Bikes are literally $1k cheaper in OK and KS, worth the drive from Dallas. It's rather filthy and will need a top-down but I'm one proud dog. A million thanks to everyone here at the Rat for doing years of design, research and testing. I can't think of one question yet that hasn't already been answered. Although I did notice a wire coming out from under the drivers seat on the left side by the rear wheel. It looks stock and has an end cap on it. Maybe it's for an accessory like a heated seat.

Welcome from a fellow Texan but not yet a Triumph owner.

Welcome to the forum. I like the America. I hope to acquire one someday. For now I ride my Sprint ST daily. I'm over in Arlington, so it's good to have another DFW local on the board.

Welcome. Perhaps a battery-tender plug?

Thx to OraDBAforPsoft

Yup, bet it's a battery tender. Makes perfect sense. I'll look for a part # on it later. I spent half of Turkey Day cleaning the scooter top-to-bottom and it's looking sweet. The only problem is oil stains/brake dust on the rear rim and water spots on the front rim. But I've researched and googled and found a solution.

If you pop the seat of and trace the wires, I bet it's just direct to the battery.

Battery Tender

Right you were indeed, OraDBAforPsoft. That means I have a battery tender cable valued at $7.95 and no charger.

Tons of Black Friday deals on Battery Tenders if you don't have one, and at least you don't have to worry about fitting the supplied cable. I have more bikes than tenders and having an extra cable is always useful.

Hope you enjoy your new bike, and Happy Thanksgiving.

I happen to look-up our fellow Texan and see where Fritch, TX was located. Hot jiminee, you are dam near to Denver. Nearest Triumph dealer must be in Albuquerque.

nearest dealer is in OKC, about 260 miles. It's about 330 to Albuquerque, 390 to Dallas, and 435 to Denver.
