I think I want a 2013 Street Triple R

Greetings,

Almost 5 years ago, I was looking for a new bike, having just moved back from living overseas for 6 years. The new Striple and even newer Striple R were on my short list. I ended up with a Suzuki SV650. It's been a great bike, but once again it's time for something new, and the 2013 Striple R tops my extremely short list.

I'll be lurking around, learning as much as possible, and trying not to bore you too much with all my experience and expertise with all things motorcycle related. ;D

Feel free to blame that other newb, Syscrush, for my presence.

Watch this one fellow Trumpet lovers. Keep an eye on that Syscrush character too. They are defecting from the Suzi site and haven't demonstrated true Trumpet love yet.

Actually - they're pretty good blokes from the little I know.

That nice new low exhaust and ABS are really generating a lot of interest...

Perhaps. I'm also seeing a lot of "it's fugly" comments from earlier model owners. A very flattering article just came out from Motorcyclist.

I'll also post this in the new Striple thread...

I might be disappointed in the new accessory Arrow exhaust. From what I have seen, it looks very similar to the stocker, insofar as it appears to have the same blocky cladding/shielding around the mid-pipe.

Drove a SV650 for years and thought there would be nothing else for me.

Then rode my Triumph 1050 speed triple. Now I am positive this is the bike for me. But I did just pick up a Sprint for touring.

I gues I am saying go for it! You won't be sorry.

I have an SV650 now, and though I love it, if I could have afforded a Street or speed triple, you can bet I'd have one. That 2013 Striple R is beautiful, except for those weird headlights, I miss the old round ones.

Thanks for the comments. Just a little more confirmation I'm heading in the right direction. When I bought the SV, I was looking really hard at the Striple, but since I had just moved back from overseas and was a totally bikeless weenie for the first time in over 20 years, I just couldn't wait the 8 or 9 months people were reporting from contract to delivery.

Now that I have a bike - and what I consider to be quite a nice one, at that - I have the luxury of time, and can wait as long as it takes Triumph to make them available.

Did you get to the big bike show in DC this weekend to check out the St3 in person? Did they have an R there, or just the base model?

Yes, yes, and yes!

Oh, and I need to change the title of this thread to "I KNOW I want a 2013 Street Triple R."
