Manifold Upgrade, Acessory Mufflers +20 Hp?

Yes I know we have talked about mufflers and losing the cat box. I want to know what you guys think about what the dealer has told me. he says that there is a 50 pound reduction in weight and about a 20 horse power increase with the manifold upgrade and the new accessory mufflers. (Manifold upgrade $350. + Accessory Mufflers $495. + Labor 3 hours $270. ) Total cost with tax about $1200.00

Is this true and is the cost resonable is what I want to know. Is there an alternative that is less costly and achieves the same end? Power and a little more roar from the RocKet.

I know when I tell the wife about the cost I will be hearing a lot more noise. Please let me know what you all think or recommend. Thanks Lee :

Maybe some truth with the addition of a PCIII or Tuneboy. There are several other alternatives out there for more and less than that. So shop around.

After cat-box delete and TORs mine dyno'ed at 139RWHP. The addition of Jardines and PC3 brought mine up to 150RWHP. Mine is an '05.

Are you talking about the newer R3T? I could see 20HP there because they come out of the factory with less HP.

AS per usual your dealer is a lying to you. The entire stock exhuast does not weigh 50 Lbs.And no way will you gain 20 HP. Tell him you want proof. Be there when they take off your stock system with a scale.HAHA Plus there off roads sound like shet..

Any dealer that charges more than an hour and a half is taking advantage of you. You should and can do that job in an hour easy, including the re-tune.

Regardless what all this crap weighs, you can expect about 140 peak hp and 150 peak ft lbs of torque with the TOR/cat bypass setup and Tuneboy software to remove the restrictions from the secondary plates. This restriction even with the TOR/cat bypass setup and Triumph stock tune is about 12 ft lbs in the peak torque range (2500-3000 rpm). If you want to know how much of an improvement this could represent, have your bike dyno tested at a reputable DynoJet center. It should cost less than $50.
