Search for the compfortable seat
Finally found something to cry about reguarding the R3,took a long trip on the Rocket this weekend about 750 miles. After the first 2-3 hours my A$$ was in a sling..I had to pull over it was that bad. Went back to the last post on compfortable seats and was wondering if anyone found one that stood out above the rest. My dealer is letting me take the Triumph Gel seat for a trial run..??

List of the possibilities:

Russell day long
Corbin Dual tourer
R3 Classic
Alaskin Sheep Skin
Beads (wood)
Triumph touring Gel Seat
Air hawk seat pads
Kontour
Hart Co
Spencers
Liposuction..........................

I've got the Corbin Dual Tour and like it a lot, it is also heated. I would probably go with the Russell if I was to buy over again though.

Lots of good feedback on the BMW site. Should compliment the looks of the bike rather than ****e look of the russle!

Most seem to agree that the Russell is the most comfortable. Most also seem to agree that it is the ugliest. The good news is you can't see it when you're sitting on it. If mega miles are you're highest priority, get the Day Long. Corbins seem to be an individual thing. They are harder than any seat I've had, but for me, they work great. Some people hate them and sell them shortly after buying them.

I just ordered the Solo seat for my R3T. It is the same composition as the Long Haul seat but in a solo version. If it doesn't work, I'll sell it and buy a Corbin.

I think the touring seat is great
I have always put corbin or other aftermarket seats on my bikes but I think the touring seat is great. I have ridden 8 hours and felt great, so I am not sure if maybe some of the post here are for the other rockets?

Seats..
Does anyone know if the new r3 tourer seat will go on the original r3..I haven't actually had a look at the new tourer yet so i am imagining that with the smaller rear tyre the rear guard would be smaller hence the seat may not fit properly ??

The Russell Day Long is the seat of choice for all the Iron Butt boyz. I've had Corbin, Mayer, Sargent, on various BMWs and had the Triumph Gel, now have the Russell on my 2006 Triumph Tiger. The Russell is the best by far. Absolutely no discomfort at all.

The Russell is taller and it is butt ugly...and my butt LOVES it.

Consider a wool padded gel seat. I have both the standard and the gel seats. I use the standard seat with a wool padded gel seat on long trips.

Thanks to all who replied..! I'll investigate all the above.. Russell Day Long seems to be more popular than the rest. Called them up here's the scoop on them, they are booked solid till July 11, of this year and that's if you order today.

$580.00 for all leather......includes solo or combination solo/passenger seat as well.

$460.00 for all Vynal........ " " " " " " " " " " " " " " " " " " " " " " " " " " " " " " " " " " " " "
Was wondering if anyone here has a picture of the Russell Day Long on his/her Rocket and what preferance they had leather or vynal..?

A Bemer buddy of mine ordered a custom seat from Rick Mayers and was pretty unhappy with it,not saying it wasn't a good seat just didn't suit him. I'm beginning to think what's great for some may be uncompfortable to others..thanks again .........Rick
