Rear suspension install
I plan to install my rear shocks as soon as I pick up my Rocket from the dealer. My question is what is the best way to lift the ass end up to change those bad boys. I want to do it right with out causing any damage to the bike.

Thanks

shocks
I used a floor jack with a chunk of wood under crank case. Ijust bought a motorcycle jack from sears on sale that works well with the rocket. Any time i put the beast in the air i also secure it with a couple of tie down straps(one from each side of handle bar to hooks in my ceiling joists)

It shouldn't take much effort to gather a buddy or two to come see your new ride. While doing so give one the privilege of holding the rear fender as you remove and replace one shock. Then allow the other to hold the handlebars and repeat the process.

If you are installing solo, a floor jack with wide support to lift from center and a confidence strap to stabilize the front wheel. If you adding the same length shock, and replace one at a time - a direct replacement. I went an inch longer so I pulled up when installing the first shock. Easy install - and will make a big difference.

I cut a 2x4 1/2" longer than the distance between my luggage rack and the ground and put it between the ground and the luggage rack, put some bricks under the engine block and got after it.

I Change my shocks from stock for 2up to 13" progressive 440's for solo. I use a Motorcycle jack with a 5/8x14x20 plywood and position the jack where the middle meets the 1st rear bend the on the peg or footboard bar. That seems to be the balance point. I got mine at Harbor Freight cheap and use it for all bike work and washing.

Thanks for the tips guys. I ended up using two floor jacks and lifted it at the center stand mounts, worked great.
