I bought the bikers friend bag to put on the back of my R3T.. it fits really nice on the optional luggage rack

Good choice!

And as far as who is copying who.. it doesnt really matter to me. What matters to me is that the Triumph handles rings around a HD along with out accelerating one easily. The triumph has road manners that HD dreams of having. HD might have the bark, but Triumph has the bite.

I thought that Triumph fixed most things that people on these owners forums complained about on the R3T.
- Ugly gas tank - They reshaped it.
- Rear tire too costly - They put a smaller more available size on the bike.
- 2 headlights look strange - They put on a single headlight.
- Triumph leather bags are ugly and Corbin bags too expensive - They made their own hard bags.

Upgraded Road King to RIII Tourer

I'd been riding a 2001 Road King Classic since I bought it new. I woke up one day a couple of weeks ago thinking it was time for a change. I wanted something different than a Harley and had heard about the 2300cc Triumph, but hadn't ever seen one. Seeing pictures was all it took. I like the way the RK is set up to balance around town cruising and for touring, and the RIII is very similar. Even though the 08 has been redesigned and gotten rave reviews, I bought an 07 as I like its sportier look. (I can't believe the size of the gas tank on the 08!) I consider the RIII a significant upgrade. It dwarfs the RK, but handles better. Smooth rather than rumbling, monster rear tire, and man is it fast! Everyone who has seen it has been greatly impressed by the looks and/or the 2300cc motor. Only 170 miles on it so far and looking forward to our 1st road trip this weekend cruising Wisconsin.

The Road King is for sale for $12,200. Thought about keeping both, but I guess there is not much reason to. Went for a ride on the Road King after spending the weekend riding the Rocket. The RK has quickly gotten small and slow :`). Had great ride to Wisconsin over the weekend; had to cut it short to beat if home before the storms and tornados hit. Got a lot of looks, questions and thumbs up. It sure stands out next to the ubiquitous Harleys.

Smile Triumph Rocket III vs. HD

Thank you for making an old man smile. The email that stated HD has shops around every corner made me grin. There's a reason HD has so many shops! Believe me, when you see a group of riders on the roadside trying to figure out what's wrong with a bike, chances are it's an HD; but as most HD riders know, there's always a HD dealer at the next off ramp.

I don't like or dislike HD, when I was a kid you had to be a mechanic to ride and own an HD. I sort of think of HD like I think of an off-the-rack suit... at triple the price.

On my trip last year to Sturgis, SD, I even stopped to assist two HD riders who were on the side of the road. I carry a lot of tools (I don't know how to use most of them but incase I break down, the good samaritan maybe skilled. anyway they said they had the situation under control, it seems the shift lever on one of the bikes fell off. I watched them for a few minutes and said that my older brother (dead now but an Ariel Four Square and Indian rider in the day) once used a pair of vise grips when his shift lever fell off. They thanked me for the info, and I went on my way, a few miles down the road I saw another group of HD riders on the side of the road, I stopped again to offer asssitance but they said they were waiting for a couple of riders in their group to catch up. I told them about the two riders I met a few miles back and told them what the problem was. They thanked me for stopping and I went on my way. I often wonder if my 2nd hand suggestion about the vise grips got the rider to the next off ramp?

We all rider and we should try to assist each other when possible, regardless of the ride.

Later Gator,
T-Rex

Thank God and Great Britian for the Rocket III.

T-Rex I agree with you. Helping out whenever you can is the right thing to do.

I like my 2005 Rocket. I just like that it is unique, although I saw the newer version a while back at the dealer and it presents well just not as good as the previous. JMO
