As a test here's what I did:
1. I tanked up to the recommended max line. And set the trip odometer to zero.
2. Went riding. The light came on at 133 miles.
3. I rode to 151 miles exactly stopping at the gas pump. Filled to the same mark as I did in #1.
That took 4.3 gallons.
151/43 = 35.116 miles per gallon.
Keeping in mind about 95% of that was freeway miles and the weather conditions was roughly in the 80's. Elevation was pretty much at sea level.
So there's my test, as close to accurate as I can produce.
