The use of a survey was a great idea.

I fall into the category of being happy with my 05 and sad that others are having such problems with their bikes. I understand unhappy to be one bad dealer experience away.

Well put
Well put T.R. I am waiting to find out if they are going to crack it open again (for the 4th time) or replace it. Mean while I am perusing the New York State Lemon Law.

I am very surprised about the results of the survey so far- especially after reading so many posts on here.

Yeah, me too......5 out of 69 are unhappy with their Rocket, would have thought it a lot more based on the posting.

Same Poll on r3owners.com has it at about 30% have had tranmission problems. I just wish everyone would take a second and take the poll.

Really easy to misread here, eh?

To answer your question, none. Triumph made a poor design choice and it caught up with me. That said, I stand by my feeling that many problems are self induced.

Yes, I guess I am a little peeved. But the facts are, I am out of warranty and if Triumph chooses to help out and take responsibility, great. If not, I'll do the repair, improve their design ( a real functional improvment ) and continue to ride my RIII and enjoy it. I also will remember the poor design choice made by Triumph and forever wonder what else they got wrong. It's the kind of thing that will tip the balance in favor of another brand, all other things being equal.

I am not "aiming anger" at anyone. Only responding to posts placed.

If it comes to the point where I will be doing the job myself I am going to take plenty of pictures and document the whole process. I'll pass along anything that might be helpful to the next person that needs to get into their transmission for some reason.

I won't get it down to the dealer until the end of next week at which time they'll get in touch with Triumph to find what, if anything, they will do.

I took NYTBird to be interested in polling transmission problems, or the absence of them, specifically in relation to the Rocket III. Having viewed the poll results and the list of members who have voted so far (purely out of interest, since I don't ride a Rocket) I'd have to question whether all the respondants are actually Rocketeers - perhaps members think the the poll is about Triumphs generally.
