Power Commander & Triumph Tunes

Does the current installed factory tune in the bike's ECU have to be a stock tune for the Power Commander to work properly using Dynojet's PC3 online download ??

Thanks

I seem to remember someone from dynojet saying they used a bone stock Rocket to do the map, which at the time had the 20050 tune. So yes, you would need the stock basic tune.

Thanks that seems to make the most sense. I had a previous PC3 installed with the bike tuned with a previous factory Triumph tune Tor's and bypass & the bike ran poorly.

Tors and Cat bypass and stock filter I have currently the correct Triumph tune but I still get the dreaded Decel popping. I had previousely had a PC3 but found out later I had 2 problems that made it run crappy.

I had the wrong triumph tune (thanks to a service manager who knows nothing about downloads) but have since gone to another dealer and had the proper tune downloaded from Triumph but I am also finding out that the bike has to be brought back to stock tune for the PC3 to work at it's best.

Find a dynojet dyno in your area and see how much they charge for a dyno tune. It is really simple with the PCIII.

Otherwise if you are getting popping on decel, add some fuel to the 0 throttle position row on the PCIII map. Others that have used canned maps have had to do the same.

Wink

Thanks Pig9r

I have a plan now & have a good understanding I only wish my Rocket had good old carbs and simple idle adjustments instead of sensors, stepper motors, throttle position sensors yada yada yada.......

Cheers

For installation of the PCIII and a custom dyno tune, this isn't bad. You'll get better results if you get it tuned manually rather than with Tuning Link. Ask them if they're planning on a manual tune and how much that would cost.
