Red face Tire Pressure

Awhile back some of you were increasing the front tire pressure up to 40 or 42 lbs. The owners hand book recommends 42 lbs. in the rear tire and 34 lbs. in the front.Just curious if those of you who increased the front tire pressure by 6-8 lbs. are still sticking to your guns at that increase. I added 6 lbs. to the front and noticed a big differance a lot smoother at high speeds. My concern is the recall on all these chinese tire imports, the Wall Street Journal wrote an article about how some important safety features are being left out of a lot of these imported tires..?

I run 42 rear and 40 front and have for several thousand miles. I like the ride with these pressures and will be sticking with them. The ride is much smoother and quieter and just plain feels better.

At 34lbs I felt like I was going to dump it in every turn. Running 40/42 and pretty happy with it.

i remember the old rule of thumb, for better tire wear increase tire pressure stated on tire by 15% gives a slightly harder ride, little decrease in traction if you are an aggressive rider in the twisties.I noticed the differance right after increasing the pressure not harder but a little smoother at high speeds . Pray that i don't get one of those defective imports...!

Another firm believer in 40 Front 42 Rear. Much smoother ride, slides into turns much easier, less effort required. The 40/42 is recommended by Metzler for the ME 880 Marathon tires for best performance and tire life.
