Bearings

Hi Guy's

I am over on the clsssic triple board (2001 Adventurer) but considering an R3. What is this business about the 2004 models having bearing problems on the output shaft from the gearbox?

What I have been told is this: at sometime during 2004 a worker on the production line at the factory was placing these two bearings around the wrong way in the casings. This lead to failure due to lack of pressurised oil to said bearings. Apparently a Bulletin was distributed to Triumph Dealers World Wide describing this problem and how to remedy it.

The remedy was to replace BOTH bearings even if only one was showing signs of stress. Triumph would pick up the cost of such repairs under their warranty schedule.

Have any of you heard of this?

Yes, my transmission dampier bearing failed and I had to get it replaced. It took Foothills in Denver 2 weeks and almost 3 full weekends to replace it. I was not happy about that. When I spoke to someone are Triumph they could not confirm that those bearing were put in backwards obiviously or they would probably have a lawsuit for not issueing a recall on it. I don't think I'm the only one to have this done and seems like at around 19k is when it happens. My sales rep Mathew had the nerve to tell me I had a bad reputation at Foothills for getting upset about how long it took for them to fix this bearing. I tell you what, its all about the money with these guys.
