Which Oil to use

My dealer is 145 miles away and i was wondering if anyone was using synthetic oil that you could by at "auto zone"? It is calling for API-SH and JASO MA, I just read the Amsoil website and they didn't list a SH oil. I used Castrol in the Valkyries and they all did fine. thanks

I've used Caastrol synthetic in mine for the past 30,000 miles and have had no problems. It should work just fine. It's the same as any other motorcycle motor.. just bigger..

I'm an Amsoil dealer and the rating for the Advanced Synthetic Motorcycle Oil (Product code MCFQT) 10W40 is listed as API Service SG, SL/CF, JASO MA/MA2.

The American Petroleum Institute lists the SH category as being Obsolete per this website:

http://www.calsci.com/motorcycleinfo/API.html

I believe the SL/CF rating will exceed the SH requirements, but I sent a question in to Amsoil to confirm.

.39 gallons?

manual says .39 gallons for an oil change, surely this bike holds at least 2 quarts, that isn't much oil.

Smile Oil Options

I went to a local auto parts store and they ordered Mobil 1 RT Fully Systhetic oil for about $50.00 a case (6 qts). Since my local Triumph dealer charges over $15.00 qt, I though it was a good price. The auto part store I went to even had computerized info for Triumph, light bulbs, etc. Ask and you may receive
