Amsoil is over rated due to all the little "dealers" that Amsoil signs up for an initial $20.00 "investment" Amsoil costs as much as the leading oils but they are a small company and don't have the multi million dollar budget the big companies like Mobil do. They can't spend as much to develop or refine their oil but all their little "dealers" sell it for them due to their large numbers. You can't get a dealership for the majors without a big volume of business but Amsoil welcomes anyone to sell it out of their trunk.
I don't sell Mobil 1 oil and don't make a dime off their sales but I hate to see people mislead.
By that logic, McDonalds makes the best hamburgers in the world.

I suppose condemning Amsoil due to their marketing strategy is as reasonable as condemning Harley Davidson due to theirs. I'm not aware of any tests showing Amsoil products to be inferior. The results they publish on their website are available for dispute. A link to those results is below.

And yes, I am an Amsoil dealer. However, the only reason I maintain the dealership is for the discount. We use copious amounts of Amsoil products in our race car as well in our motorcycles, personal vehicles and lawnmowers.

Thank the stars for the information about Amsoil. I immediately drained the oil from all three bikes, my tractor, mower, generator, Z06 and Cummins Dodge lest they be irepairably damaged.
I am also suing Blackstone Labs for lying to me all these years about oil performance. I am rushing over to Autozone to buy Mobil 1 because my Z06 came with it. General Motors recommendation should have been enough for me in the first place. What will I do with my trunk full of Amsoil?

Normally, I prefer to nip oil threads in the bud because they invariably deteriorate into religious wars.

This one was going so well that I thought perhaps we were about to be an exception to the rule. Silly me. Although I have to admit, the direction it has taken is one I certainly didn't foresee.

Please recycle oil responsibly

By the way, I have 40 years of experience with race cars and boats myself. I've run my race cars and boats under grueling conditions for hours under high boost loads with different brands and types of oils.

Any modern oil should protect under most normal circumstances if it is properly filtered and changed regularly. The point being made is why use inferior oil when, for the same price you can use better, more refined oils? Upon inspection I have found the least wear with Mobil 1.
There is a reason why Triumph installs Mobil 1 Racing 4T from the factory. After all, they are a British company! They aren't using Mobil oil because they have some kind of allegiance to the U.S. There is also a reason why General Motors installs Mobil 1 in their highest priced autos as well and it's not only because of the kick backs. My wife's Cadillac and my Corvette came with Mobil one in the crankcase and I will continue to use it. My years of experience have proven the validity of this practice and I will continue to do so.

My point is not to condemn other products but merely to inform others there are more refined products available for the same money.

Anyway, enjoy your holiday weekend everybody.
I have to mow my lawns

Beautiful boat X!!!

As long as we're showing pictures, here's one of our race car.

For some reason I really like that picture. And yes, the car did come from the factory with Mobil 1. We're running Amsoil but we also change the oil after every race weekend. Given that, we could probably run Ajax motor oil without any problems.

Now, where did I put those pictures of my lawn mower.....

Yeah, I like that picture too
Like you say, when you maintain a vechicle as well as I'm sure you do, pretty much any synthetic (and a lot of petrolium base) oils will get the job done.

Cheers,

Buy Mobil 4T online and have it sent to your house. With a change interval of 10,000 miles it is well worth the expense. PLUS, it is what Triumph recommends.
