I'm on my first HT shifter...can't say I love it, but it's what came on the classic and certainly doesn't decrease my enjoyment of the ride.
About Rivco tho....I had to install my own rear floorboards for the wife as the shop was not aware that, with beetle bags, I would need an extension for the boards....and rather than take it the 1 1/2 hours back to the shop, I opted to do it. When I had some trouble getting one of the supplied bolts to start, I took the part off and started it in to make sure it would go ok. The result was the bolt twisting off when I tried to take it back out...probably due to a burr in the threads...it just wouldn't back out. Had to drill it out and find a new bolt. So my opinion is, that although Rivco makes some fine products, they can get a bit sloppy on some details. I'd still buy from them.

Thanks For the Information

Hey Dog, thanks for the info on the heel/toe shifter. I was thinking about getting one but after reading the hassle you had I've decided to pass and stick with the stock shifter. Appreciate your pics and detailed explanation, it helps those of us who are not mechanics understand a little better. Thanks Again.

Another observation about the Rivco H/T shifter, the shifter seems to be more to the right, or closer to the engine than the stock unit. So this means less of the pad is under/ever your foot when shifting. I found myself having to pigeon-toe my feet to get enough foot grip of the rubber shifter pads. I don't have enough miles on this new shifter to tell yet if having to adjust my toes inward is causing me to miss-shift sometimes when downshifting to first gear. I don't think this is the cause of my first gear issues but I still have not figured it out yet. I think me having to kick the pedal a few times sometimes when downshifting into first is more likely due to the weight and balance of the actual shifter.

I am not sure if I am going to keep this Rivco Heel-Toe shifter on my bike. If you are interested in a new shifter it may be wiser to go with the Triumph part rather than aftermarket. The Rivco people who I have talked to have been very nice but their shifter is not. Since I don't have any other Rivco products I cannot comment on the fit and quality of any of the other items they sell.
