Rain Gear

Finally found a rain suit that impressed me..it's the Motorrad ProRain 2 coverals. Anyone out there own one and if so how do you like it. Here is a list of some of the features it offers...
*Wind and water proof
*Diagonial front zipper and long leg zips for easy handling
*Generous use of reflective material and signal colour for high visibility
*Heat resistant Nomex material on inner leg
* Non-slip material used on the seat
*One piece suit with PVC coating
*Sizes S,M,L,XL,XXL,XXXL

I'm sick of the Mickey Mouse rain gear thats out there ..any suggestion would be appreciated..

I found Frogg Toggs to be some of the best rain gear available. They're lightweight, watertight, and breathe, so you don't sweat your butt off in the warm weather.

Just my two cents, I recently bought first gear textile jacket and pants, for the cold and wet weather. Both are completely lined so are great for the temps in the 20's and are both waterproof so is wonderful in the rain. I have tested the suit out and the pants and the jacket zip together. When it isn't cold, the liners come out of both making for good rain gear. The jacket has vents in the front and back that have zippers for hot weather. Only down side the suit ran me around 350$, but it was worth it for I ride year round rain or shine.

In my limited experience, textiles advertised as "waterproof" are only waterproof as long as you're a pedestrian. But the addition of wind pressure on top of the rain render Gore-Tex or Cordura about as effective as jeans and a tee shirt in the pouring rain. I'm now leaning towards having some non-breathable rain gear to put overtop of my regular riding gear when needed.

My First Gear Magnum textile jacket is definitely NOT waterproof. It works fine in a brief shower. However, several hours of riding in a pouring rain last summer soaked right through the jacket (and everything else I was wearing). My Frogg Toggs were home in the garage as I wasn't anticipating rain on that ride.

Yonder,

The Frogg Togg fabric is definitely breathable AND waterproof. The only drawback to my older Frogg Togg gear is that it wasn't specifically designed for motorcycling so there can be some seepage through the pants pocket access flaps, but I can live with that. I think they have since come out with a motorcycle specific suit. It's worth checking into. You definitely CAN have breathable AND waterproof - and you want that. Frogg Toggs are reasonably priced and they are easily the most popular quality rain gear out there. A cheap Walmart plastic rain suit isn't going to hold up to the wind encountered on a motorcycle. There are other quality alternatives, but in most cases they cost more than Frogg Toggs. The main advantage I've seen in the better stuff is really long leg zippers to ease pulling the pants over riding boots. Getting my size 15 boots through Frogg Togg pants at roadside is a PIA. With a more reasonable boot size, they work fine.

As for leather boots, you need to condition them - and put a lot of conditioner on the seams. You need to do that a couple of times each riding season. Otherwise they will leak. Since this thread has reminded me, I think I'll do mine today.

Yeah I haven't really had my textile gear through a pouring rain thunder storm for a long period of time while riding. I am of the opinion from what I have read about frog toggs that they work very well, just never used them so I am going completely by what I have heard about them. Now I have also had a solid two piece leather suit in pouring rain and it came out rather dry on the inside, so I just like to experiment and see what works.
