Considering a Rocket
I currently have a 1992 Trophy that after only 3 weeks of owning it has developed a noise in the gearbox anyway, i have been thinking today about buying a new, or near new Rocket..... i'm sick of 2nd hand sh!t that ends up giving me grief I read a few road tests of them over the last few years they have been around, and they are all good reviews..... I have a couple of questions though....... I'm told that they chew tyres fairly quickly, is that right? and what kind of mileage are they getting? One U.S review i read said they were getting about 200 miles out of a tank..... that equates to about 320 kilometres, which is what i get out of the Trophy! So that would be pretty good economy from a big engine.
Convince me to buy one

A test ride is all the convincing you will need.
I get about 140 miles per tank before the fuel light comes on and my first rear tire was replaced at 8000 miles.

Expect to get mid 30 MPG. Tire wear - 8-10K miles.
Take a test ride my friend.

For gas mileage, I think most of us are getting low to mid 30's. I seem to average 32 or 33 MPG. My gas light also comes on at 140 miles. I once pushed it to 200 miles on a tankful, but I think I was running on fumes. I wouldn't do that again. As for the rear tire, I got 7500 miles out of mine. I could have gone another 500, but didn't feel like taking the chance at the time so I just put on a new tire. I have about 10,000 miles on the bike now, and the front is still looking OK. Hope that helps you.

that sounds reasonable...... although, most of my riding is sedate just riding to work and back. if i can get about 150 miles (240km) that would get me to work and back 2 and a half times...... not too shabby for the size of it. I currently get 3 days out of the Trophy.

I could never get more than 32 UK MPG out of my previous one, light comes on at 100 to 110 miles but there's still plenty left in the tank. Probably get about 160 before actually running dry.
Rear tyres lasted 5,000 front 9,000 miles. But then I ride like an idiot.
Current bike does 24MPG on Super Unleaded only. God knows how soon I'll need a new rear, I've only had it four weeks. Spose I'll be lucky to get 2,500 to 3,000 if I stay off the strip.

fuel cons.
If im on long trip i can easy get 200 miles per tank going about 70mph. I get average 39mpg, thats with header, intake mod and pc3. If i rag it, it drops to high 20mpg. You should buy one! If you pull up next to a harley on one, you will see a little puddle of urine quickly form underneath it!!!!
