2008 Tourer horn
I thought I started this as a new thread this morning must have signed off without submitting.
The question is for those of you who have taken the plunge for the new 2008 Rocket Tourer are you happy with the horn or does it sound as "wimpy" as the stock one the rest of us are stuck with (unless we install another version...of course)???
Also, how easy are the new hard storage bags to take off and reinstall? Also how is the gas mileage?

Not sure aobut the mileage yet but it isn't looking good if you go by the gauge. THe horn is a wimpy roadrunner beep beep horn and the bags a re great except they won't hold and HJC 3/4 helmet, that is aggravating.

I replaced the stock horn with a Stebel mounted under the left side cover within the first 300 miles. The bags pop on and off with two quarter turn screws each. Capacity is not that great, but I'm coming from an R1200GS with Jesse bags. Those things would hold everything I own. A rack with a top case or some kind of strap on bag will be needed for much beyond a weekend ride.
Fuel mileage is a bit under 40 mpg I think. The fuel gauge reads empty and miles to empty read <20 and I can only squeeze in about 4.8 gallons. The manual says the tank holds 5.89 gallons so either the gauge is very pessimistic or the tank hold less than advertised.

GPMAZ, thanks for the input, thinking about the Stebel horn myself. I believe the Triumph R3 section in their sales brochure said the tank had a 4.9 gallon capacity, you must have been pretty close to empty.

Not sure about the sales brochure, but page 109 of my owners manual shows it as 5.89 US gallons (22.3 liters). I suspect the fuel gauge is faulty, but I sure don't want to have to push this beast to a gas station just to prove it...

Leave it to Triumph to have a misprint in their owners manual (maybe???). I checked my dealer's site and the official Triumph site and they both had the R3T fuel capacity listed at 4.9 gallons (or are the sites wrong???...I'm so confused).

the gauge is is different
I filled mine up today with it showing around 1/2 tank and it held just under a gallon. I rode it 70 miles today and it is showing less than a half. I will need to test it to get adjusted to it.

Probably the same fuel guage problem we all have/had on standard Rockets. The float arm needs adjusted. When new, my light would come on with the tank about half full.

I will be going back to the dealer soon for some ordered parts to be put on, is there an adjustment? I was showing 59 miles to go and only got 3.054 gallons to go in. I had ridden 90 miles so it was a tenth less than 30 miles/gallon.
Also I had the optional mufflers put on, does th FI need to readjusted because of this mod?
