enjoy it
I would advise anyone who has the impression from the websites that the Rocket has an above normal likelyhood of mechanical failure NOT to buy one. You won't enjoy it. Stay away and get some other bike that you are more comfortable with.----Thats right if your laid back and have enough money to cover large repair bills don't worry about it,enjoy it.I don't have money for large repair bills and where would you find a TECH you trusted...JOHN B. call me..Jack Wait,Ugart Iam really very happy and envy the fact that you enjoy the Rocket so much.I was like that till I turned on a computer. Enjoy BJC

I presently have an issue with the trans on my Rocket. I willl not get rid of it, and I still love it.
Take a look on any other brand or model bike's message board, and you'll see people having issues with their bikes.
My Gold Wing had over heating issues (like most early 1800's), and many people had welds on their frames breaking. I still have, and love my Wing.
Talking about problems, and complaining about them are two different things.
In all cases, I had the dealer and factory make things right. No complaints.

Exactly. The issue is that there are many who can't see past their anger to realize that. There should be no anger in the first place. They need to not take it personally and realize no one is bashing their bike or saying anything in a mean spirited way. It's all about trying to understand what they are getting into for those who are considering one, and getting the word out if they are one of those who's had issues. It does 3 things to talk about your issues...

1)-helps others considering a R3 what they might be getting into (assuming they see enough posts to realize there is an inordinate amount)

2)-could summon help from someone else who's experienced the same and could have some great advice for them.

3)-as i said before, if no one admits to it by talking about it, they give the manufacturer more reason to ignore it. Manufacturers only change for the better not when when they realize there are too many issues, but when there are too many people talking about it and sales start to slip. Our voices are the only thing that stands between top quality and the lowest they can get away with.

The rocket isn't my fav bike at the moment due to certain aspects i haven't yet come to terms with. But one day maybe, and if i were to have a second bike theres no doubt a R3 would be the one. I DO feel there are more issues than acceptable, but contrary to what i've posted so far i think it's an acceptable risk in my mind. More than it SHOULD be or than i'd prefer, and more than i would accept for most things. But a R3 is a special piece of work that is one of a kind, so there is no second option. But people should be allowed to be aware if exactly whats what w/o feeling like they are being bashed for simply asking. And those who know the score should be able to speak out for the benefit of those who ask. No one means any harm.

Most of the anger I see here is from those mad at triumph or their dealer over their Rocket problems. Yes its fine to talk about problems if the reason for talking about them is to find some solution. Repetitive venting gets old real fast. Another thing that gets old is opinion stated as fact i.e. the Rocket has an "inordinate" amount of problems. Based on my experience I could just as easily say that the Rocket is "inordinately" reliable compared to other bikes and that would just as valid. Show me with valid statistical proof that first determines what is "ordinate" and then shows that the Rocket is beyond "ordinate" with respect to reliability.

Two presidential canadates each will blow $125 mil for a job that pays $400,000 a year, must have a great dental plan..that would make me cry.
There is one major problem with the Rocket that warrants a tissue..each and every time i set out on a journey weather it be coming out of a restauant, gin-mill or destination stop i have to spend 15-30 minutes talking to the Rocket admirers..sometimes I'm up for it other times it cuts into my riding time. Ain't life a bitch..lol Oh by the way I've named my bike" Britney".....!

moment of sanity
Pete,

Thanks for the moment of sanity. I agree. There are so many people ready to scream when things are not PERFECT, but so few that say when everything works.

In additon to your comments I will add that a huge number of problems people seem to experience with any bikes are self induced when they attempt to "improve" what the "stupid" manufacturers built...........
