Just brought my rocket home!

Some may call it ugly, I call it 147 Ft-lbs of torque at 2500 RPM

Now if it would just stop snowing and warm up

Congrates on your new bike. I haven't heard many people say it's "ugly", most say, "I've never seen a bike like this! What is it?" Then when they hear about the HP and torque, they say, that's got more HP then my car.
Have fun. I have 22,000 miles and still loving it. Don't be surprised when you find yourself buying another rear tire soon. Feeling that power has a price, but worth it.

Welcome!

Isn't it tough seeing the new Rocket two or three times a day and not being able to ride it! And then repeating the above for several months..... man do I recall the cold - four winters in Philadelphia and one winter in Minneapolis. Starting the bike in the cold just because and then riding it inside the heated garage just because. And then sneaking out into the salt and sand just because.

I found that after my purchase in April 05 that it was tough to read the motorcycle magazines because I was perfectly satisfied with my Rocket. I guess I enjoyed the shopping for a bike phase. You might identify with that depending upon how long you shopped and compared before your purchase.

Consider placing a trickle charger on the battery to keep it in ready to go mode.

Yeah, I've been shopping for a couple months. I wanted to buy one in the winter so I could save some money, but this is the bike for me. I was smart though. I parked it up at my fathers house so I didnt have to walk by it everyday when I couldnt ride it! Now he has to. HAHA!

Nice bike! Best of luck with it.
If you are going to let it sit for more than several days in the cold weather, hooking it up to a battery tender is a good suggestion. Once it drops below 40 degrees and sits for several days, you'll find there isn't quite enough juice in the battery to get 'er running if it isn't fully charged.
Once you get it out on the road, you'll find you have trouble getting that grin off your face.

Hey!
I just picked mine up as well. 2008 R3. "Phantom black"
I have a whopping 340 miles on it. How may you hit so far?
And you talk about the weather. Where are you?
I'm in SOuthern California. Likely the only place where you can ride year round. :-)

I have a question though. I noticed the engine color on yours. What gives Mine is black. Is yours a 2008 as well? Is it because of the local weather?

I have a 2007 Red R3 and some of the models came with silver engines, mine is black. Dont know if there is any rhyme or reason other than different choices.
Work keeps me pretty, I do seem to spend an awful lot of mornings, sipping coffee and looking at it in the garage.. sighing.. that I have to go to work. Cant ride in a skirt!
Congrats on the new bike
Its the best!!

Supposedly the 2007 "Classic" models came with the black engine, the regular R3 and the 2007 version of the touring model came with the silver (gray, aluminum...) engines.

black

Ya, my bike had a grey engine but I turned it black to match my Harley jacket.

My '06 Standard has the grey engine. Heck, the powerplant could be "plaid" and it'd still be a cool.

Congrats on the new bike. It's an awesome machine.
