I wanted a dyno tune but didn't want to spend all the dough for a dyno tune with Tuneboy. So I took a Tuneboy tune (20050_3) that had some timing changes already done and loaded it into my bike. I then hooked up a PCIII and had a custom fuel map made. I unhooked the PCIII then imported the PCIII custom dyno map into the Tuneboy tune that was loaded into the bike. I then reloaded the new tune into the bike. All with just a little over an hour on the dyno. With Maddog exhaust, no cat, and triple K&Ns I got 146hp and 148ftlbs torque with just the 20050_3 tune. After the PCIII dyno tune I got 152 hp and 155 ftlbs. Plus it was much smoother.

One thing that Tuneboy can do that nothing else can to make the bike go faster is remap timing. Triumph limited power in 1st thru 3rd gears by retarding the timing. Just by copying the 4th and 5th gear maps to 1st, 2nd and 3rd, in Tuneboy it makes a big difference.
Another thing the Tuneboy can do is remove the rpm and speed limiters. But if you want to go 170, forget it.

Tuneboy can be tricky if you are not computer savy. I would find someone who is to help out. You need a lap top or a way to get a usb cable from your desktop to your bike.

Doug why don't we get a commission from Wayne for this??

I have had my bike at 6500rpm in top gear and it was still pulling.Speed was some where near 265 to 270kph
Nev cams are clearly a big factor in big HP. How much did it run you to buy and install? That must be a new world record for the Rocket (168 mph)! You must have Tuneboy to override the stock speed limiter, which is set at 218 kph (135.5 mph).

Here's another annoying question from someone who couldn't get the spark plugs out.

When you get different cams from Nev, do they come on a cam shaft or do you take the old cams off and hammer on the new ones?

Lowes- you can fit the triples under the claw cover without modifying it.

From what i have read you can raise the rev limiter for more top end speed.

Just a word of caution here. If you are really going to make your Rocket run over 150 /160 You might want to look at the aero package. I've got the big clearview screen on mine and have run it up to 142 ( GPS reading ) and had to keep as much weight as far forward as possible so feel even some what stable. Fly screen or some kind of mini fairing would probably be best. They limited the top speed at 140, Probably because the ergonomics of the machine where so unstable at speeds above that. Bottom line, the R-3 was built to be a comfortable power cruiser. Just don't think it was made to run at high speeds or it would have come with the missing 6th gear. But if this is your desire, first thing I would do would be Hagon Nitro rear shocks and progressive fork springs.
