Superbikes are mentioned for perspective.

Anyway, If he buys the Tuneboy, he can put a custom tune in (decel variant of 20050_2) that will open the secondaries and give him about 13 ft. lbs. more of peak torque. I got 140 hp at 6300 rpm and 150 ft. lbs. at about 2700 rpm.

If he puts on the triple K&N's, he can use 20050_3 with Pig9r's PCIII overlay - he'll definitely gain peak HP. This is all for about $500, mostly for Tuneboy - K&N 2780's are cheap. I had triple Unifilters on with the 20050_3 tune. It was probably a bit faster at 6000 rpm but I don't spend much time in that range. Remember, the difference between 140 and 150 hp is only 7%.

Rebuild the engine with cams and high compression pistons? Like you said, you could spend a lot of money.

The Tuneboy software allows you to apply a PCIII fuel trim map (generated by dyno tuning a bike fitted with a DynoJet PCIII) to a tune which you can download into the Rocket's ECU using Tuneboy. It provides a way to fine-tune custom dyno tunes done by Wayne at Tuneboy on Rockets with various exhaust (like yours, for example) and intake configurations.

more power

Triple kn filters mod is the best bang for the buck (90$). Remove secondary plates (free) pc3 (250$) dyno tune (200$ for me) Tune boy for lots of other stuff that doesnt make it go faster!

dougl, did you dyno the bike on the same dyno before you did mods ?

Who did you race to determine that?

No, when I put the Uni's on, I brought it to a Honda dealer to dyno it. I think they got 132. This was weird because it definitely felt stronger at the high end than with Wayne's 20050_2. They also got an A/F off scale. The consensus was that the kid running the dyno at Honda didn't know what he was doing.

The next day, someone in Oz had a Unifilter fire and I remove them from my bike,

Later, I took it to my dealer, who is a DJ center and has been doing this for decades. With the TOR's/Cat bypass and Wayne's 20050_2, it ran 140 hp and 150 ft lbs, on the second run. Since he did this for free, I didn't ask for more runs.

Then I had him load the Triumph tune for that exhaust. As I remember, the peak HP was maybe 1 or 2 lower but there was a big dip in peak torque (about 12 ft lbs) from the closing of the secondaries in the stock tune.

I drove it home with the stock tune in and honestly couldn't tell the difference. I like my modification of Wayne's tune because it eliminates the popping on decel.

It would be helpful if everyone who does sh!t to their bikes would get official 1/4 mile times so that everyone else would know what they're getting for the big bucks.

I did both Tuneboy and PCIII. To do a good complete dyno tune with Tuneboy takes a good 8 hours and that is just for fueling. Ignition I would imagine would take just as long. PCIII remaps on the fly so it is much quicker, with TUneboy you have to stop, make changes, load the tune then do another run.

I wanted a dyno tune but didn't want to spend all the dough for a dyno tune with Tuneboy. So I took a Tuneboy tune (20050_3) that had some timing changes already done and loaded it into my bike. I then hooked up a PCIII and had a custom fuel map made. I unhooked the PCIII then imported the PCIII custom dyno map into the Tuneboy tune that was loaded into the bike. I then reloaded the new tune into the bike. All with just a little over an hour on the dyno. With Maddog exhaust, no cat, and triple K&Ns I got 146hp and 148ftlbs torque with just the 20050_3 tune. After the PCIII dyno tune I got 152 hp and 155 ftlbs. Plus it was much smoother.

One thing that Tuneboy can do that nothing else can to make the bike go faster is remap timing. Triumph limited power in 1st thru 3rd gears by retarding the timing. Just by copying the 4th and 5th gear maps to 1st, 2nd and 3rd, in Tuneboy it makes a big difference.
