That's right, should have plenty of pull off the line. Not speaking from experience on the new one like you're asking, but I don't think too many folks will notice the HP difference unless they routinely try to reach 140-150 MPH..

If I was into touring, I might care. As it stands, the standard R3 is the most outrageous cruiser out there.

I have seen the new one and I just don't like it. I prefer mine by far. The new one looks like some sort of HD abomination. The difference in appearance only makes it blend in with what is out there now. I will be updating mine and holding on to it for as many years as I can.

Well, at least "the new one" is not like "the new" Speed Triple, which replaces its predecessor. The standard and classic Rockets are still very much in production, and should be around for a good while.

Thumbs down

I heard they bought a couple of HD to "study" the design. Thus the new Rocket HD

New Tourer

R3 owners have nothing to worry about. The Rocket is hot no matter what the style. We all know the new R3 tourer suits more of a general market base of riders. But, we all know the secret under the hood so to speak. It might style like an HD, but nothing beats the Triumph talent & engineering.
Just smile and people will wonder what your up to.....

The discussion I had with the tech at my dealer and what I have read indicates that with less valves and less intake it must be the gearing. I should see one in Atlanta next week if they show one. Need to see it naked to appreciate the difference as I really can't handle the HD cloning aspect with those bags and rear fender turn signal treatment.

At the dealer meeting they also had an HD Roadking there to ride for comparison....not very fair for HD.

rocket HD lookalike

hi people, whats with the concern about the rocket 3 touring looking like an HD ? lets face it all cruisers look like HDs all sports bikes look alike and all adventure bikes look like BMW GS varients. the fact is its a rocket that does a specific job and its triumph which equals quality,my dealer had 1 since november british weather not let me test ride yet but im down there every weekend drooling its bloody lovely in the flesh didnt think the day would come but i think me and my beloved speedmaster may have to part company. weather should be getting better sooon will post my report after my test ride. Happy New year and ride safe everyone.
