I took delivery of my new R3T last Saturday and have been quite pleased with it so far. I purchased the dark blue/light blue one and its gorgeous.

It doesn't have all the guts of the normal R3, but you need to look at the total package and just how SMOOTH the R3T performs as a tourer. The gearing is just about right and it just glides down the road almost silently but when you need some acceleration it provides more then enough.

Just some things to think of if you are going to purchase a new one.

Accessories are hard to get and some are not available yet. I ordered the front light bar, side bag chrome guards and license frame and I have no idea when they are going to get in. I will be heading up to the dealer and ordering the rear quick release sissybar and rear luggage rack this weekend to hold my bikers friend large roll bag that I have been using on my speedmaster.

My only concerns are the following.

1.) No real cruse control.. I will have to get one of the twist grip after market ones and I have never been fond of them.

2.) For a Tourer the front windshield might be a bit too small for some people and the bigger one you can order is 500 bucks... a bit steep.

3.) The fuel economy can be a bit iffy.. if you are heavy on the throttle expect to stop a lot.

4.) Fuel tank is tricky to fill, the new tank is very flat and you need to have the bike on the kick stand (tilted way to the left) to fill the tank properly.

Overall I have been real happy so far. I have about 300 miles on it and have to get another 300 on it before my first service i have schedule for April 9th.

The left side panel came with a scratch from crate damage and they ordered me a replacement.. The dealership has been excellent at taking care of the issues so far.

There was a small oil leak in front of the oil tank that was a one time issue... I cleaned it up and it has never returned.

I had a small oil leak at the rear of the model that just required some tightening (overnight there was an oil spot the size of a quarter).

I have had a Road King and Electra Glide in the past, along with a Honda Aero 1100.. basically they were all the same with the HD's just being a lot more expensive to maintain. I find the R3T to be different enough to stand out a bit in the crowd and to have a lot better road manners then my old bikes.

So for now.. I have my R3T for the longer trips and can still bomb around town on my 06 speedmaster when I want.. it's a good combo for me.

Great choice, I have the same color combo.

Same experience with the accessories, I'm also waiting on the light bar.

Agree on the cruise control. I got the tall shield (that showed up in a few days), expensive but a much better fit for me.

Fuel economy, yup, nothing to write home about. It is tricky to fill. At first I thought it wouldn't take enough fuel to fill the tank based on gas gauge and miles to empty. I've since decided that the fuel gauge is the problem. I think there's more gas left in the tank than is being shown.

I also thought I had an oil leak from underneath the oil tank. Turned out to be cosmoline that the engine is coated with for shipping. Evidently they can't get it all out from behind the oil tank and it takes a couple of hundred miles to dry out.

Even though my R3T wont be delivered for a few weeks, I'm told that some of the accessories I've ordered still wont be available. Specifically, Triumph seem to be short on sissy bars and luggage racks, fender trims, pannier guard rails and trim kits, and highway peg mounts and pegs. The dealers reckon that they could be available by the time I'll be due a first service - but I do high mileage and that could be sooner than they expect.

Triumph have used the 'over 70 accessories' line as a selling point for the R3T, so it's a shame that they're not available with the bike. I'll just have to be patient.

I can see in 12-months time that they'll offer the taller screen, which almost everyone seems to want, as stock, or maybe with the sissy bar/luggage rack combo as a pack.

Any of you people having problems with filling the Touring tried using the McCuff motorcycle fill collar? I wondered if it helped at all.

Do you think that was where it was prepped?
