I was seriously considering adding a Street Glide or Road King to my garage. Then the R3T was announced. Now I'm going to wait & see. I'd say Triumph got it substantially right, with the arguable exception of the single v. dual headlights. Time will tell.

Our dealer just got a touring model on the floor, black and white, and I have to admit it looks good. From the pictures I had seen it didn’t look all that hot but the pictures didn’t do it justice. The only down side for me is the amount of chrome on the windshield but I wish mine was that easy to remove.

I think it will appeal to a lot of folks here in the states who are socialized to the HD scene. While I won’t be giving up my classic for the tourer, I hope it is a seller for Triumph so that the parts supply remains strong for years to come.

Was just at my dealer, took me to the shop as they were putting finishing touches on the R3T.

+1 on looking so much better than the pic's. It's a really nice looking bike. An yep the windshield couldn't come off any easier.

Don't know what to say about all these R3T coming to your dealers. All I know is that my leatherlykes held more than those bags do. The bags do come off but the brackets are another matter. The rear fender looks a bit Rhune-ish but you can't see it with the bags on so....

Mine will be delivered tomorrow

I spent a whole day in Nashville testing Harleys, Hondas and Kawasakis. I got to say when I got to the new touring machine it was over, I stayed gone 45 minutes. My last 5 bikes were 3 Valkyries, a Ultra, and a Goldwing and I am very pleased with this selection. If you are 6'3" or taller and have a big frame you should check this out. Even an 08 Ultra feels small but not the Triumph. It will take some getting used to looking at the instruments on the tank compared to the Valkyrie, but the zip is there. I added the improved power mufflers for 15 hp more. I also bought the talller windshield, tank bib, fog lamps, all light visors, bag rails, front fender trim sisssy bar and bag. On the test ride going down an on ramp it felt quite tame but I looked down and I am doing 91-wow. It handles like a 750 in the curves something I noticed the 240 rear tire model won't do. I think the did great! Also the seat is a big improvement, will probably knock Corbin out of some sales. If you guys are still looking for the Rocket 3 standards, Chattanooga TN has several new 06's in stock for 12K. I almost bought one of them but I like the blacked motor better. BTW-no Harley will keeep up with this bike regardless of the look.

I've just taken the plunge and today ordered an R3T. Spent a few weeks mulling over the pro's and con's of the Touring versus a Standard or Classic, and eventually decided that the Touring's attributes were a fair trade off for losing a few HPs, some of which will be regained by fitting TORs. One of the deciding factors was my height. I'm a shade over 6'2" and I found the Touring to feel a lot more comfortable than the stock Standard or Classic.

I've decided on many of the same accessories as Xh/h (above) including the taller windscreen (perhaps the taller screen should have been stock), sissy bar, fog lights and fender trims, adding the longhaul touring seat with rider backrest and front dresser bars with highway pegs. Just a shame that many of the more obvious additions to the stock model aren't offered as a 'pack'. Triumph accessories are not cheap.

Also think that Triumph should have thought about cruise control, which I'd have certainly gone for (although I can live with something like a throttle lock or whatever they're called) and the option of a top box (or at least they could have made the panniers wide enough to stash a helmet in).

It'll be a few weeks (possibly even several weeks) before it is delivered but even the thought of having to start repaying the loan hasn't taken the smile off my face.

Found out about the helmet today, yes it is a shame the bag won't hold a helmet, but I rode 70 miles today after it was delivered and it is the smoothest crusier I have ever owned.

ME TOO!!! I have said that from the first time I saw it in the mags.

Sorry, but MY Rocket does not look like a HD! But it does draw lots of HD riders to it and when they leave I have to wipe their drool off of it.
