Unhappy Final drive Drain Plug

Met a fellow Rocketeer today. We got talking about pros and cons etc, he was telling me when he drained the oil from the final drive unit and was retighting the plug/screw it broke off.I told him about the trouble i had with the exhaust and manifold bolts. He said the dealer has replaced alot of drain plugs due to the fact people over tighten them . If by chance this should happen to me is there an up graded bolt or replacement bolt that is stronger. I believe it also comes wih a magnet attached to it...thanks in advance....Rick

Count me in as one of those that twisted off the drain plug head. I have not yet replaced it and left it in, overtightened. I just pump out the old oil.

The bolt is hollow and has a magnet pushed in it, so it snaps easily. Follow the recommended torque rating closely or replace it with a regular bolt. If yours is stuck you should be able to push the magnet up a bit and get a bolt extracter to bite and turn it out.

So there is "replacement" for "displacement"......lol I wonder if it's possible to get a stronger magnetized bolt. I replaced a speedo sensor on the RK after 5 years and the magnet was loaded with fine metal filings. Maybe a machine shop could mill one out...?
