Custom hard bag frames

Ok, so I'm not a Rocket owner.....I do love them though. I made some custom frames for my Daytona to do a little 11,000 mile trip this past Sept from coast to coast and parts of Canada. I was always happy with soft-throw over bags, but they were limited, as in not waterproof and not lockable. Well, no one made frames to fit my bike.....So, I made a set myself and they turned out awesome. My local Triumph dealer told me that I should make them for other bikes, like the Rocket, Sprint and new Tiger. Well today I went into the Shop and took measurements to make a hard bag system to fit the Rocket. It will be a easy to fit kit, not cutting or modifying of the bike. My frames will be able to fit many different brands of hard bags.

So my question is...would you ladies and gentlemen be interested in seeing something like this? Would hard bags be something that you would care for? I know that I love the ability to lock things in the cases and feel secure that they are ok. Its a great feature to be able to lock you riding gear in a bag and not have to carry it into the restaurant/store/wherever. I fell in love with the ability to use one key to unlock the bag from the bike....push a button and carry the whole bag into a hotel like a suitcase. Do many Rocket owners here do long distance riding? Help me out here please...It would be awesome to see some feedback on if something like this is wanted....from what I have read...the new Touring Rocket is getting a mixed welcome....I can solve your secure travel needs if thats the direction that you want to take your Rocket. Thanks in advance....Dano

That looks great!!

I have the factory leather bags, and they are ok. No real complaints. Didnt go with corbin beetle bags because of cost, even though they are gorgeous.
What range of price are you thinking about?

I just bought The K- Drive Bags ...They lock with one key...come off easy like a suit case. When not in use the brackets blend into the bike. The reason i picked them they weren't too big. Having large bags on the Rocket is like putting a western saddle on a race horse.Over packing is a pain in the a$$,been there done that, what you need you should be able to fit in these bags. There's always a motel with a laundry mat and if you collect items on the way you can mail them home instead of the hassle of lugging alot of stuff around..

Looks like a great ride across country....!

As a former BMW owner, I appreciate hard side, lockable, removal luggage. I think your bike, the luggage appears really first class!

The conflict I have with my 05 Rocket is I really like the three pipe look. The only solution I see ( in opting for hard side bags) is to go with a two pipe setup - like the factory does with the 08 touring bike.

I do encourage your efforts.

The price has yet to be determined. I need to make and finalize a set of frames so I can have a complete account of what is needed and how long it takes to fabricate them. I'm thinking about 250 or so...for the frames. I will have a local dealer that wants to sell Givi bags if I do start this custom work. So I make the frames for +/- 250 and yall choose the bags that you want from him....or your own supplier. That's the though so far. Give me a week or two and I'll have a working set.

I do have plans to make it so that the hard bags will fit no lower than the factory leather bags. So, can you fit factory leather bags with the 3 pipe system?

I installed my 40 liter bags onto a Rocket at the shop and they seemed small, like they fit there. I didn't think they looked to much larger than the leather bag that I had just removed. I will post a few pics of the mock up in a few days.

Dano,

I'm looking forward to seeing what you come up with. I'm ready to mount some Givi bags on my Rocket using a WingRack but also need to come up with an adapter.............
