Does anyone know where I can get hold of a Road Speed Sensor (Part Number T1290053) for my 2011 Triumph Rocket Roadster please? New or used.

I'm due to get the ferry to the Isle of Man on Sunday for the TT races, so am desparate to get this part fitted before I go - Triumph seem to be out of stock and will not have any for at least a couple of weeks at best!

Any help would be greatly appreciated...

Thanks,
Gareth

The part numbers are different but I think there are only minor differences between for example a Speed Triple sensor vs the Rocket sensor
(it might be as simple as the connector plug, which has a panel mount on it)

Compare the pics from these links

Here's a Speed Triple one on EBay UK - http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/TRIUMPH-1...313800?hash=item3ac2fab688:g:FMwAAOxydINSZkC6

May I ask why you need to replace it?
This is not a part that you would expect to fail - can you give further details please?

Thanks for that - first symptom was the speedo not working, then the engine would revs would change without any throttle input from me. Bike stalling 2 or 3 times when selecting 1st gear which it has never done before. Bike does not cut out when I put the sidestand down when in gear as it usually would.

Out of all of those syptoms this is the only one which might suggest a speed sender issue - although I'm doubtful it is the sender itself, more likely a connectivity issue, whether at the sender connector, the instruments or the ECU.

then the engine would revs would change without any throttle input from me.
This one potentially leaks in the vacuum system - if you have TuneECU, post a screenshot of the TESTS screen with engine running or just report what the Baratron pressure readings are for each cylinder.
Whatever it is, it cannot be related to the Speed Sensor issue.

These almost sound converse to each other - problems with the gear position sensor or connector perhaps?

It's not possible that you may have swapped the connectors between the Speed Sensor and Gear Position Sensor is it? (I don't know if they use same - they are both 3-way connectors - the early models were different but there are three different GPS for the Rocket, so not sure if you can cross them or not on the Roadster)

Think about what you have done recently - either yourself or a shop:
Have you changed the map at all?
Any other clues as to how/when this started?

My mechanical skills are non existent sadly, so I haven't made any changes to the bike myself. The only work I've had done is a front tyre replacement a couple of weeks ago.

Can you tell me where the road speed sensor connector plug is located so that I can check for a loose connection.
