New Rocket Owner

Hey there guys....

I've been on this forum for awhile now as I've also owned a Speed Triple and a Thruxton and now I'm over here hangin' with you Rocketeers.

Couple quick questions:

If I purchase the Triumph Off-Road Pipes and the Triumph Cat-Bypass kit, is it just a simple tune that the dealership will download to keep the bike happy?

Secondly, if I put in a K&N Filter to replace the OEM one under the seat, will that mod most likely require Tuneboy / Power Commander dialing-in or is that not a big enough change and the Triumph TORS tune will be fine? Anybody running this set-up?

Finally, if I want to do the 3 K&N's under the "bearclaw" with the mods mentioned above as well, that will definitely require a Tuneboy or Power Commander, correct?

That's it for now and I thank you in advance for your help & advice.

JOHN

Hey John,

The first two options should be fine with a TORs map from your dealer. Beyond that Tuneboy would be ideal.
Keep in mind to unlock the real potential of the R3 you must go with Tuneboy.
Then you can lift the power restrictions in the lower gears and raise the top end speed - plus a whole lot of other options.

For the price of TOR pipes and cat bypass you can get a set of D&D exhaust and a Tuneboy. The D&D eliminates the catbox and can be bought for around $450.00 and looks and sounds great.
I have this set up and the R3 feels much more powerfull on the butt dyno for sure. This bike is very choked with the stock set up.
Happy modding
