Have you removed the secondary throttle plates yet? Worked wonders on mine.

I was wrong, It does work!

OK, Now that I've had a few weeks to play with the "switch" I can honestly say it does make a difference! I think my first test of the mod was flawed, cause the back tire was slipping. It was dam near 105 degrees that day, and the road was 150+.
I found out it was working by holding the bike in 1st 2nd or 3rd gear at a constant RPM of about 2500 and flipping the switch back and forth. It is very noticable when doing this. And I found out that with the switch"ON", that I have to be very careful, while my wife is on the back, cause it will now pull the front-end skyward. I leave it in the "OFF" position while she's on the back.
A 7% boost for $10 bucks! Love It!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Cost me a total of $10 USD for switch, wire, heat shrink and resistor.

Gear Sensor Resistor Mod How-to

Here's the info on how to do the gear sensor resistor mod I have collected. Plenty of help and info came from many others, which I owe credit to!

Please Note: Anyone who has received an UPDATED OEM TUNE from Triumph which includes Anything other than the STOCK Classic, or STOCK Standard tune, might want to check if their 4th and 5th gear mapping restricts the secondary butterflies. Some of the Triumph Tunes for aftermarket exhaust and No cat or cat bypass restrict 4th and 5th gears also, which will nullify this MOD.

REMEMBER TO HAVE THE BIKE OFF, AND BATTERY DISCONNECTED BEFORE ATTEMPTING THIS MOD, OR CHECKING RESISTANCE!

Undo the 2 screws where the accesory socket fits to get to the wiring harness. You will find many connectors back here, but you must follow the wiring up from the gear sensor to find the right connector. The correct one is the connector for the gear sensor (top one with 2 wires).
The black/white wire is the neutral light, leave this wire alone.
The other is a black wire that changes to black/purple at the wiring connector.
The black/purple wire goes to the center terminal of a 3 pin switch.
The black wire goes to one side of switch.
The other side of switch goes thru a resistor then to frame(ground).

Resistor Values coming from OEM sensor are as follows:
1st Gear - 0.1k Ohm
2nd Gear - 0.2k Ohm
3rd Gear - 0.4k Ohm
4th Gear - 0.7k Ohm
5th Gear - 1.2k Ohm
If you have a volt/OHM meter you can easily verifly you have the correct wire by unpluging the connector, and then testing the resistance from the Black wire in all the gears. Resistance will change instantly when you switch gears.

REMEMBER TO HAVE THE BIKE OFF, AND BATTERY DISCONNECTED BEFORE ATTEMPTING THIS MOD, OR CHECKING RESISTANCE!

I'm the new guy here and I don't mean to piss in anyones Cheerios... I'm all for backyard mods but you claim a 7% boost for $10 and I don't see any data to back that up.

If I missed it, let me know and point me in the right direction.

Or was this a 7% increase measured on the butt dyno?

Some of the Rocket tunes have the secondaries fully open in 4th and 5th gears. So if you have a tune loaded doesn't have them open 100% in those areas you will see an increase, otherwise there is no benefit as far as the secondaries are concerned. The 7% comes from Triumph's claim that the secondaries limit power 7%.

However no matter what tune you have you will see an increase via timing changes. The Rocket's timing has been retarded in 1st through 3rd gears, 4th and 5th are fully advanced. So by telling the ECU it is in 4th gear while in 1st, 2nd or 3rd you will be able to take advantage of the fully advanced ignition map.

I know you would at least get 7% doing so because when I first loaded a modified Tuneboy tune with the secondaries open 100% and ignition maps fully advanced there was a very noticable difference.
