I'm having a little trouble figuring out how, based on pretty much one view, the bike is losing its "individuality." That's like the widespread reaction in 2004, based on the few pictures available then, that it would be too ugly to sell any! Talk about irony.

A lot of people have been saying they want a touring model. Well, there are certain things you're going to have to have on a bike for that to happen. And depending which combination you go with, there will be some resemblance to some other touring model.

I'm happier that they're going with a more traditional look, even if it means there'll be some H-D comparisons drawn, than if they'd made it an "English Goldwing."

I'd miss those high speed stabilizing pipes and those dual head lights...!

I think the touring crowd were wanting the "English Goldwing". This Rocket Tourer, if it is the final version, is nothing more than a current Rocket Classic Tourer with a single head light and hard bags.

Not a bad looking bike, but it's just a different look of a bike that Triumph already produces.

The Rocket Roadking

Okay so... I’ve been riding since I was a kid. I’ve ridden many different bikes over the years and have decided that next year, I’m buying what will likely be the last bike I drive. As such I have been taking my time and researching, looking, road testing etc. And I’m happy to say, the Rocket III is my choice. Specifically the Classic Tourer. One of the tings I really like is the two-headlight design. To me this is just one very visible difference from other cruisers on the road today. So I’m a bit disturbed at the idea if the R3 dropping to a single light. Does anyone know if they are doing that to the full lineup or just for this one particular model.

I like this forum. Seems to be full of people who actually know bikes, and can actuallyconvey some intelligent thoughts, expressions and ideas without having to resort to hurling insults like I have gotten from about 90% HD riders. I don’t mean to slam the HD... Nice lineup of bikes but everyone and their brother has one and I just don’t want to be one of the sheeple.

Anyway, I’m anxious to learn about the 2008 R3 lineup since that’s the year I’ll be buying. Anyone have any inside info? :-)

It does look a little... bland, the only thing I don't like is the single headlight. Much like women in the bedroom, bikes all look the same in the dark. That's where the dual headlights set it a little bit apart from the rest.

headlights

And as with the woman, who wants one with only one "headlight".

Road Kings are made to look good standing still. That is where they spend the most time. If Triumph has made a bike that looks as good standing still but then goes like a rocket then they have an amazing winner. Most of you rocket riders, when you let out the clutch you are just a blur to the rest of the world anyway. Hey let them think you are a road king while you pack your groceries in the saddlebags and then leave them in the dust thinking "what was that?"
