Mine opens on my desk top without being connected.

PM me your email address and I'll send you two older versions to try.

I bought my Tuneboy from the group buy as well and I can't get the diagnostics to open either. The edit program is fine but no luck with diagnostics.

Guess I should have tried the compatibility change before I posted my previous message. I changed the compatibility to Windows 2000 and the diagnostics opened right up. I'm running XP as the OS.

CMB--Well, that's a new one to me on the Windows 2000 thing. Most people are having to run in Windows 98 compatibility, I believe. At any rate, 2000 didn't work for me either. I had already tried ALL the compatibility options. I'm about to the point of taking Pig9r up on installing the older version. The one that should be helping me is Wayne at TuneBoy but he quit responding to my e-mails. I guess he doesn't know what to do either. I'm disappointed that he isn't taking more of an interest in my problems.

OK, here is the fix that worked for me courtesy of Wayne:

Is it Windows XP or Windows Vista ?
If your logon to XP does not have administrator rights then the install will not have worked correctly. If you have Vista then the install will not have worked correctly because Vista runs programs without administrator privilages even if you are in the administrators group.

What you need to do is this.

If you are using Vista.

Download the latest drivers from http://www.tuneboy.com.au/Support/TuneBoyDrivers.zip
Go into device manager on your machine and uninstall the TuneBoy Cable from the ports and USB drivers lists, make sure you select the tick box to delete the drivers from your PC.
Now unplug and plug the cable back in and install the drivers using the new files.

Now, step 2 (Vista)

click on the start orb, then all programs, then accessories.
right click on command prompt and select "Run as administrator"
When the command prompt appears do the following
Change to the tuneboy directory.
CD c:\program files\tuneboy\tuneboy

Now enter the following
regsvr32 tuneboycontrol.dll
a popup will tell you that it is registered

now enter the following
tuneboy /skinname=standard

Step 2 (XP)

logon as administrator.
click on the start , then all programs, then accessories.
click on command prompt
When the command prompt appears do the following
Change to the tuneboy directory.

CD c:\program files\tuneboy\tuneboy

Now enter the following
regsvr32 tuneboycontrol.dll
a popup will tell you that it is registered

now enter the following
tuneboy /skinname=standard
You should now have the TuneBoy dash displayed in front of you.

That is it, now the TuneBoy and TuneEdit icons on the desktop should work correctly and you will not have any blue screen woes (Vista).

Maybe a little easier to follow here:

Because the text options (bold etc) are not yet functional here.

Pig9r--Man, I'm going to owe you if this thing works. By the way, my two computers have XP, one is XP Pro and the other is XP Media Center. Hate to show my ignorance here but to log on as Administrator requires a password and I don't have one. Any ideas on what to do with that? Thanks-Ken B.

admin XP rights

Just make sure your account that you are logging on with has admin rights.
Log onto the account.
Go to control panel, User accounts.
Select the account that you are on (user name).
Choose Group membership tab.
Choose Properties button.
Check radio button "other" and choose "Administrator" from the dropdown.
Click OK.
Sign off then sign back on.

Should be good to go.
