Busa and Gixxer 1000 VS. Rocket!
Went riding with my bud's today one of which has a busa (stock) and the other has a GSXR 1000 with pipes and power commander. I knew I would not win but dam was it close up to 100-110ish at which point they flew by me pretty hard. We raced about half a dozen times from stops and rolls and I consistently beat them up until 100 in pretty much all situations. They were more than shocked to say the least and when we pulled over they both demanded that I let them take my bike for a quick test spin. They both came back smiling from ear to ear btw! The first race was at a light and they both were kinda laughing at me and told me they would give me a decent jump....that laugh soon turned into respect when they did not pass me as fast as they thought they would! From the line I would have to say the rocket (when launched properly) is about impossible for ANY streetbike to beat. The huge rear tire and monstous amount of torque available in the low rpm's is just a great combo for launching!
The best part was when one of my buds dropped his Gixxer 1000 off to pick up his HD fatboy. It must be embarrassing to know you paid THOUSANDS more for a bike that is so much less of a bike than the rocket (nuff said).
The one thing I would mention is my bike really feels like it hits a brick wall at 110-120ish. It must be the big square bags and windshield taking it's toll on the aerodynamics at that point. Not to mention the big ass backrest.
Well enough ranting...today was the best day for the rocket yet!

You'll have to try a 'busa and a Ninja 1400 next.

Right on ChiTown.......its the first 100 mph that matter the most anyway.....after that you risk jail time.
I still don't know what it is about a Harley that experienced riders will pass up 140 hp for 65 hp....and pay a lot more for it. But I guess HP ain't everything....otherwise I'd be riding a Boss Hoss.......

At 100 mph, they just give you a slap on the wrist, especially if it's not rush hour.

Correct. Drag and available power meet pretty abruptly under those conditions. You would have another 20 mph or better available otherwise.
Of course, if you use them and get caught, you're on your own...

FYI the Classic tunes have the speed limiter kicking in at 120 mph, while the standard model tunes it's at 135 mph.
Mine has never been limited by aerodynamics, it is always the fuel cut-off that shuts it down.

Get your dealer to put the equivalent tune you have in now for a standard Rocket or get a Tuneboy.

What a pain in the ass! I was planning on running the rocket down the byron dragway in august and I think this bike can probably come close or go over 120 in the 1/4. I don't understand why they would limit it to that speed and then let the standard rocket do 135.
