Cat bypass?

Alright, so I'm looking to find out some information about the cat bypass for a Rocket III. What does it do, where's the cheapest place I can find it(of course), or do any of you have a used one for sale? Thanks ahead of time fellers!

I bought mine from my dealer. I believe it was between 200-300. It's the triumph cat bypass and is very easy to install yourself. Be sure to purchase the gasket that goes from the header to the bypass as the one in the cat will be chewed up most likely.

Unhappy

Hermy's Tire & whatever out of PA. sells at a slight discount (@10% ?). I got mine from there. Saved a little $. I recommend the change-over as it reduces some weight and seems to improve the sound & performance, but you'll probably have to get a 1 time re-map at the dealer as well!

Did you also install the off-road pipes or will the stock pipes fit the triumph cat bypass?

Stock pipes fit but I got the off road pipes. They look better and are LOUD! Be sure to get the remap done as mine had flat spots in the mid range and backfired badly.

I'm looking for a bit more of a rumble but not LOUD and annoying.

Does the cat by-pass add volume or is it just a HP thing?

thanks

The TOR's are not loud and annoying. I had TOR's on my Bonneville and they sounded like the old Triumphs. The TOR's for the Rocket are in that tradition, although the engine is a heck of a lot bigger.

definitely more grumble

The performance exhaust and cat box removed makes the Rocket sound much better at idle. It still purrs at highway speeds. It's not that loud, but much louder than stock.

Both...and the sound is not annoying by any means. It just makes the bike sound like a bike when you remove the cat and install the TOR pipes.

I wouldn't call the sound a rumble. I find it more like a "rasp". It's sharp. More like a straight through. If you are looking for a drilled HD sound, this is not it.
