Okay...so today I'm taking the day off of work to go to the MOPAR Nationals and blow some stink out of my life. On the way, I'm going to stop by the T dealer and test ride an R3. I've done my research...got my head around the need for a long distance steed...ready to jump on the torque wagon...keep my Speedy for jaunts around town...lose the Beemer... Of course, I also have convinced myself that I will NOT...absolutely NOT...after the test ride...fall to my knees, drooling and driveling like a schoolchild after the teacher pops some cleavage and tells me she want to see ME after class... No. I will calmly tell the salesperson that I want to "think about it". I will not stare blankly at him when he gives me the price/trade in figures...and say...after a 10 millisecond pause..."okay". NO. I will be a negotiating fool, like Perry Mason (remember him?)...jumping out of my wheelchair and saying "objection...that price is too high". And I won't sheepishly smile and melt like generic viagra (what?) when he offers me a free Triumph t-shirt to sweeten the deal. No... I will NOT come home with a new bike today. I will not. I will not bring down 4 different credit cards because I've already calculated the open credit on each of them and if they can split the bill like colleagues splitting the bar tab for an afterwork gathering... Oh my. I feel the need for therapy before this trip...but alas she's busy working with Bubba who can't understand the garage floor cardboard requirement for his Harley. So I'm on my own. Wish me luck. I'll report my success tonight.

You're 1 day ahead of me. I'm test riding one saturday. A word about dealing tho. Theres a dealer in my area (so cal) that sells at the lowest price you can get from any dealer around here. (i have verified that) They tell you an out the door price and it's always the same number as the list price. My speedy listed for $8600 in 05 when i bought it, and thats exactly what they did it for out the door No other dealer in the area would go that low. It's like getting tax, license fees and setup free. So i would say that if you can't get one for list out the door, tell them you can elsewhere and walk out. Theres a good chance they'll stop you before you get to your car. If you turn to a quivering bowl of jello and just say yes you'll still be happy, but a bit poorer.

Anyways, from what i've seen most other areas of the country people seem to be able to get even better deals than in so cal. So i would suspect that list price out the door is the worse deal you should settle for.

Hope you both enjoy your test rides, and that the ride makes up your minds either way?. I wanted to ride one from day one of the launch took just under 2 years before i took the plunge as I was unable to fund the bike any earlier. I recall waiting for the bike to come back from another tester who arrived back and said the bike was awful to ride but lovely to look at?. I went out got cramp on the first roundabout and nearly rid the bike straight back to the dealer but I continued and enjoyed the ride. Two weeks later I had the bike again for a long decent run and took the wife and kids out (sep of course) this was the first time I have ever got the the other half any where near a bike and she loves it.

So there you go the rocket might not be the bike for you but the ride will be a memorable one guaranteed

And their is nothing I have ridden with so much torque on tap!!!!-still makes me grin and whine like a Cheshire cat

You got the Triumph disease. Same thing happened to me when I test rode the Speed Triple....I bought it before I left the shop that day. Two years later I rode a rocket....I pick it up in two weeks time.
