I am considering aftermarket exhausts for my 2006 rocket classic. Far too quiet for such an aggressive and awesome muscle machine. Would like some input on all the different makes out there. Have done some research and am familiar with the most common names---ie (jardine--mad dogs --tors). Are there many others out there of any account and quality? Somewhat familiar with things to be considered. Need for a Powercommander-- and retune codes. Not much of a mechanic. Interested mostly in improved sound--not necessarily "harley" loud, but I'd like people to know I'm coming. Improved power would be a side benefit as far as I'm concerned since my stock bike has far more power than I'm used to. Are other "performance" upgrades recommended in conjunction with pipes--ie air filters?

you might consider these, due out with in the month. 153 hp/156 lbs torque. 304 stainless steel through out. double ceramic coated in various colors. run 300 degrees cooler than any steel exhaust. various muffler options and sound bitchen without the jardine resonance headache.

I love the look of these headers slanting back but my concern would be heat, double ceramic coating not withstanding. It is my understanding that the reason for the headers pointing straighter down is to keep the hottest part of the pipes away from your legs. By slanting the pipes back, as shown in the picture, the hottest part would be right under, and very close, to your legs. If it weren't for that little problem, I would jump on this approach. --Ken B.

sorry to say hb you are way off base. triumph et al run them down because it's easiest. i'll have to check but mine probably run tighter to the engine than even the stock. they are no where near your legs.
these being stainless steel do not produce radiant heat like ALL other exhausts out there. jars on my buddys bike temp'd at 650 degrees even with their so called ceramic. mine bare ss are 250-275. yes that is correct without even double ceramic coating them which should drop it another 100 degrees.
if you check on the review "jimmyrocket" on r3owners.com did on my pipes you will note that you can bring your hand so close that before you feel heat you will touch the pipes. having had crappy jars i know that 2-3 inches is the closest before your hand starts to hurt.
might i suggest you try researching why all nascar/nhra etc use ss exhausts and related components.
might i suggest also you wait abit till pig9r and others have their demo sets. you perceptions about exhausts for this bike is about to change.
