Would like to get some opinions on getting a more comfortable seat. We have the stock one now and both my wife's and mine are sore after riding for just an hour or 2.

Look into Russell Day Long.

If I could afford it I would do that as well. It is the most popular seat among long distance riders and comfort to them means everything.

Ditto on Day-Long for comfort. If you don't get real fancy, pricing can compare favorably with many off-the-rack 1-size-fits-all seats. You're not buying a seat but instead having the stock seat totally rebuilt to be as comfy as possible for YOUR dimensions.

Be sure to get the build scheduled during the months you ride least in if you don't have another seat.

My wife and I find the R3 classic seat good for all day trips.

I'm heavy (250lbs) and 6'-0". My stock Classic seat killed my arse after 45mins. My dealer let me evaluate the Triumph 'Touring Gel Seat' before purchase and I'm buying it for my 1st long trip. Price is not too bad and the benefit is about 50% better. I'm also changing to RIII bars with Rivco risers hoping the combo will do the other 50%. Search for threads on 'seat' as there are many in this forum.

Regards & good luck, the solution can become expensive--but I can't stop riding the sexy beast...

On this same topic of seats, what are you guys doing to keep your butt cooler during the hot riding months?
I have the Corbin Duel Tourer and I sweat my a$$ off on long rides...which creates quite a problem.

I do not like the look of a sheepskin on the seat and I've seen those beaded seat covers of which I'm not a big fan of.

Any good ideas?

I know you said you don't like the look but I use an Alaskan Sheepskin and love it. I am not sure what else won't heat up a lot besides sheepskin and beads I am afraid. Hopefully someone else has a better idea for you!

I have the stock R III seat and put the Alaska Sheepskin on that puppy and I'm good to go. However the pillion needs a bit more so I got the classic one piece at a good discount and use that for her.
