Hi Members. I read up on some exhaust modifications. I do not what to change the triple looking original exhaust. I read that jardine is the best bet, but i do not like the idea of having one exhaust pipe on each side. I prefer the 2 and 1 on each side. My question is what is TORS? What does it stand for, and where can I purchase this? Also where would I purchase the cat delete to go with it? My last question is concerning the computer programming because I don't want all that backfire once I install these items. Would my best bet be to purchase the power commander or the tuneboy? I read on the tuneboy site that the power commander is not as good. It lacks many features and adjustements. Please help.thanks

TORS = Triumph Off Road System.
You can get the TORS off the Triumph site or at any dealer.
Same with the Cat delete / bypass pipes.
You (or the dealer) will have to load the 50054 tune when you replace the OEM stock pipes(50050 tune) with the TORs or some other applicable tune with the cat delete / TORs setup.
Tuneboy gives you some additional features that the PC does not...but both have "issues" in certain situations and setups.

thanks for the reply. I went on the Triumph website and found under silencers, I then clicked view the products. I found silencer upgrade# A9600160, and silencers# 9608060.
Is this the complete exhaust that I need with a new tuner module either power commander or tuneboy? thanks

If you install the TOR's and cat bypass from Triumph, then there is a Tuneboy tune for this setup. It works REALLY well. Also, replace the stock air filter with a K&N filter. We have modified this tune, which is 20050_2 on the Tuneboy web site to reduce popping on deceleration. You can get that tune at r3owners.net under the "trading tunes" forum.
Even if you decided later to do more performance mods, it's worth it to have Tuneboy even if you decide to do further fuel adjustments with the PCIII.

The A9600160 is the bypass pipe that replaces the catalytic converter and the A9608060 are the TOR mufflers. It also says they sell them only in the U.S. If you can't get them from your dealer, try www.mascylces.com.

How do the TORS compare to the Jardines or the Mad dogs or other aftermarket pipes.
I am considering doing the cat bypass and wonder if the RIVCO is better than the Triumph bypass and then as to pipes, which is better while still leaving the THREE pipe configuration.
As for tune boy do I need to buy it and bring it to the dealer to use?

In what respect? Sound? Power? The Jardines are a complete exhaust system replacement - with 2 mufflers. They probably give the most power but not by that much once you've gotten rid of the cat box. Are you drag racing your bike? Do you care more about tenths of a second in the 1/4 or do you care about sound or do you care about maintaining the stock look with 3 mufflers? You really should hear these exhausts in person before buying them.
I ordered my bike with the TOR's/cat bypass because they were on the demo and I liked the sound. Jardines were not available at the time and I don't like the 2-muffler look.

There's really no objective data on this. No one has demonstrated that the Rivco cat bypass is better or worse than the Triumph one. I haven't seen any comparisons between TOR's and Mad Dogs. You'll probably get 10-15 more HP with both. The TOR's are $495 from Triumph. On newr3.com, the Mad Dogs (3 mufflers) go for $895. The way I understand it, this doesn't include the cat bypass.

Yes, you should get it. You'll get better and smoother power using the tune I referred to above and you can easily do it yourself. And you'll have more flexibility in tuning your bike for future mods.

that was a great response. I really appreciate the thought you put into it.
-----------------------
In what respect?
------------------------------
I think my primary concern is to leave the unique three muffler look, which is a great part of the charm of the bike.
But second I want louder sound so that when I am next to a car THEY KNOW I AM THERE.
And speed would be the last consideration since right now anyone I ride with has a slower bike.
If the loss of extra weight increases it performance in twisties or makes it more managable that will be a plus

Is there any difference in the look or quality of the Rivco bypass from Triumphs.
I had read that rivco's crash bars were more solid than triumphs. So I was unable to compare their looks on the cat bypass.

The TOR's are quite loud.

Mad Dogs are supposedly lighter than stock (don't know about comparison to TOR's). They also fit closer to the bike if you're worrying about scraping them in turns. However, I don't think 10 lbs makes any difference with all of this power.

I don't think the cat bypass on newr3.com is Rivco, but it is stainless. Unless you spend a lot of time under your bike, you'd can't see it anyway. As for the crash bars, I haven't crashed the Triumph ones yet but I like the way they look - they stick out more.
