I love this new bike but the one complaint I have is there is a ton of heat that comes off of it when I ride through town. I'm okay on the highway because the wind blows most of it away. Is there any kind of shield out there to keep from burning your leg from the heat coming off of it? :???:

Long pants and chaps. No riding this bike in shorts. The Honda Valkyrie is called the Dragon due to the heat it puts out so this bike must be a fire-breathing demon from hell.

Do the Jardines have as much heat shielding as the stock exhaust?

Yes they have the same shielding. I'm not so sure it's just from the pipes I think alot come off of the radiator. I will have to try some chaps. I have always worn long pants. I don't know how people wear shorts while riding a bike.

If you've already eliminated the catalytic converter by installing the Jardines and the correspondingly richer tune, you've likely done the single best thing you can do to keep the engine heat down. Making certain the correct tune is in and the fan is functioning correctly also helps. My '05 was a frickasee'er till I had the correct tune put in. Now it's merely hot.
I don't know how much difference chaps will make, given their design. I wear thick leather jeans and on a long trailing throttle situation (down mountain passes, etc), my upper right thigh still gets toasted.
Aren't the Jar's ceramic coated?
The bottom line is though you're straddling a car engine and there will be some heat.

On some bikes it's no problem...until they put a leg somewhere it shouldn't be and flash fry meat on something that woulda been just a minor ouch if denim and/or leather had been between them and certain parts that get hotter than a skillet. Guys you see riding in shorts are the ones who haven't done that...yet
