I went to start my 05 Rocket the other day when my bike started acting a little goofy. It would prime the fuel injectors 3 or 4 times on it's own. I had to keep turning the key back and forth a couple of time before it finally kicked over. The next day it would not start. I called the dealer, they picked her up and called later and said the ignition switch went bad. Has anyone else experienced this problem?

Yep.
Do you have a key fob attached to your key?
Or do you have multiple keys on a ring along with the ignition key?

I have an alarm remote control on a ring, but no problems (yet) with the ignition switch. What's the link?

I don't. I only have the bike key on a key ring.

I noticed that I started having issues with the ignition switch after I started using the "hard" ring with the key fob.
I also had a second key on the ring for my bag locks.

To many times when I went to shut the bike down, that second key and the fob would get stuck against the headstock and pry the ignition key.
I would then have to turn the ignition back on, free the key and fob from where it was lodged and then turn the ignition off. This went on for a few months before I noticed the problem with the ignition.
I have an ignition on order from the dealer and I'm able to start the bike if I apply more than usual force when turning the key to the "on" position.

If I wiggle the key front and back in the ignition, the bike will quit.
So I've quit using the hard ring and fob.
I now use a linked chain and I have no issues with the key, fob and second key binding against the headstock.

I hope this helps.

Luke

Thanks for the replies. At least I now I know that I don't stand alone with this issue. According to my dealer there is not one ignition switch in the entire USA. They had to order it from England. You would there would be a distributor that would have parts like this on hand in the States. Go figure.

I had the same thing happen last year. It covered under warranty. My dealer is over 200 miles away so I opted to just have them send the parts to me and I changed it myself. Only thing is that you can't buy just a ign switch. It comes with switch, lock cyl, and seat latch lock and two new keys.
Took me longer to get the old cylinder off than any of it. It is mounted with break away screws. With a little patience it can be done in about a hour or two.
And I had to send my old set back to the dealer for warranty.

What about the tank lock? You will still have two keys to deal with. Mine is being replaced today and they said it only comes with the ignition switch.
