Does anyone know how to decode the vin number. Time it was built etc. mine is SMTCOOL425J218598.... FYI while searching the web on how to decode vin# i came across this sight http://www.rampmotorcycles.com If you enter your vin number it will tell you if your bike has any recalls...

Sorry, that's not encoded in the VIN. The manufacturer, perhaps the plant in which it was made (if they have more than one), the bike model, model year, and serial number are the only things you'll get from the VIN itself. The manufacturer could use the number to cross reference other information in their own database, of course, but it's not in the VIN, per se.

It's quite a "sight" all right, once you finally get to see it (their server must not be on a very fast connection). The VIN lookup link is near the very bottom--and it's the Triumph factory site you can get to at: http://www.triumph.co.uk/usa/4799.aspx.
